For all of my co-religionists out there, have a Happy Purim!!!
For those who are unaware, Purim commemorates yet another occasion where the Jews escaped genocide, this time in ancient Persia. For the complete story, read the Scroll of Esther.
Interesting tidbits about the holiday: Jews are essentially commanded to get drunk (one of only two times where inebriation is even tolerated), and to be happy.
Hamentaschen, tasty triangular pastries are so good that I eat enough poppyseed ones to fail any drug tests I might take for a month afterward.
Purim (literally 'lots') is one of two Rabbinically ordained holidays. (Along with Chanukah)
As for me, I have some nice Scotch I've been waiting to celebrate with.
