You never know when things can change. 3 relative/friends may come off life support tomorrow through Sunday and leaving us much too early. All 3 came about suddenly. Be so thankful for family and friends.

Sadly, one of those people mentioned above just passed away. One of the biggest baseball fans you could ever meet. Will be buried in military gear with a Detroit Tigers hat somewhere in the coffin. RIP.

Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! I did a couple of birds and they turned out wonderfully. The pictures one is the Gordon Ramsey edition I had found. I also wet-brined, spatchcocked, and smoked the other bird. We entertained eight fams. A good time was had by all, including Roxie, our sheepadoodle (whos was shorn way too short! UGH!)

Got back from the 10 day road trip late Monday night around 2am. My wife and daughter had flown out that morning around 10am, so never got a chance to see em.
My son is playing football in college now down at a JC in LA....and my daughter has a big soccer tournament in San Diego this weekend. So they headed down early to spend time and have Thanksgiving with all my family down there.
Bummed to not spend the holiday with them, but glad they were able to be surrounded by loving Mexicans.
So THE HCP hung with Rudy FURnandez enjoyed a turkey pot pie and watched some football and movies.
They get home Monday......oh the glamorous life of TV Broadcasting.....

Desserts in a row. Galette got slightly damaged removing from pan, pastry is flaky and fragile. Sweet potato with marshmallow topping, maple macadamia, apple galette.

I've been on a big sweet potato kick lately....with the woodstove I put a few in the stove wrapped in foil and by dinner they're perfect!

This is very unusual for us - and we had really heavy rain in the last couple of days. Per usual in these cases, we lost a tree - heavy rain and wind with big Eucalyptus trees (they have very shallow roots) - usually means fallen trees. Luckily it was not a very big one, so it is not too hard to chop it and get it out of the way.

The Great Turkey Dissection of 2019 is complete.

A plateful for Lucia.
Four turkey dinners with dressing and gravy.
Trick to great dressing and gravy is the stock. For great stock, along with turkey parts and other standard ingredients, add smoked turkey, a leg or wing, whatever you can find, adds another dimension of flavor, and simmer four hours.
Also, carcass and some chopped turkey for soup. A portion for turkey enchiladas, another for stuffed pasta shells, smaller amount for turkey croquettes.

I'm bringing a human bag to a friend who got sick and couldn't come. Another friend is coming over tonight to refeast on dessert.

There is a dab of organic heavy cream left, Lucia gets it.

The dishes are put away, floor washed, stove scrubbed. Empty bottles in recycle bin, compostables in green bin, extra chairs back in garage. I am officially done.
