Harden trade?

That's a yes for me. Likely unprotect that 2021 pick we sent them, and add in another and/or swaps here and there as well.

I think they could get much better offers than that. You said it, a future HOF for a star, a perpetually injured defender, and a deer in the headlights SG.

Houston will get better offers. I wouldn't make any Harden trade. Harden has all the shortfalls of a DameCJ pairing; ball dominant, don't enhance each others strengths, poor defense.

Harden makes much more sense on a team with a wing or big such as Philly (either Simmons or Embiid) Milwaukee, Miami, Boston, etc.

The amount of talent the Blazers would have to give up takes away key role players needed to make a DameHarden team a contender. Those role players with DameCJ have a better chance to contend.

Not to mention the salary cap, as overpaid as CJ is your talking about $20million+ more per season, so potentially two players earning over $50 million. Thats not going to work in one teams back court.

Heck we might even explore trading CJ in a year or two in large part because of his salary.

The absolute LAST player Portland needs is James Fucking Harden. A one dimensional, me first head case who never saw a defensive possession he couldn’t ignore. The guy couldn’t succeed with a shitload of talent constantly surrounding him, so why should we destroy our foreseeable future by bringing in the most selfish player in the NBA??? That would be like shoving a hot poker in Dame’s eye. We have a FAR better chance of going all the way without Harden than we would with him. Stick to coaching HS basketball Norm......

There are far too many strip clubs in Portland to keep James Harden from being a covid swamp....I don't want this guy anywhere near Portland...he's been paired with great players and chokes in the playoffs ...people think we have playoff problems ....wait till you put Harden out there...once he gets his scoring title, he doesn't give a fuck anymore

No need for it's own thread. Please Merge with Melo Thread.

Dude is a "ME GUY". All about himself. From day 1 , he'd be trying to leave. Blazers have chemistry. No Thanks

That would be my guess. Is he awol right now because he wants out of Houston? If true I would stay away from him.
I bet he ends up in Brooklyn. They have some good young talent with enough salary to make it work.

I don't know if it's in the trade idea thread or just another thread but this has already been discussed. As I said before if we could get Harden for that, I would then flip him for something that fit on this team. I do believe that Houston will get more than that for him if he's adamant about leaving. If we could do that though, I would in a second and then flip him for something that fit this team better. Yeah, he's better than CJ in every way but he's still not a plus defender, he's still way too ball dominant to maximize his or Dame's effectiveness next to each other on offense and I hate his attitude. @WesleyMatthews Harden makes $12 million more than CJ and that would actually put us at around $73 million for our starting back court, I agree that is way too much.

Harden needs the ball to be effective and that's not going happen with CJ and Dame.

I would do this:

CJ, Simons, Little, Trent Jr, Collins, 3 1st round picks for Harden, Tucker

Harden is one of the great players of all time. If CP3/Harden can get a 3-2 lead in WCF against Dynasty Warriors, then Dame/Harden can go further. I love CJ, but this is a title team:

Dame/Harden
Harden/Hood
PJ Tucker/Jones Jr
Covington/Melo
Nurkic/Kanter

Harden didn't work with Dwight Howard.
Harden didn't work with Melo.
Harden didn't work with Chris Paul.
Harden didn't work with Westbrook.

Why does anyone think Harden would work with Dame?

If Jimmy Butler comes available....I'd be interested but not for Harden...for Giannis yes.....

Didn't it kind of work with CP in 17-18? They won 65 games, were the #1 seed and were up 3-2 against the Warriors when CP injured his hamstring. The Warriors then went on to sweep the Cavs. If CP doesn't get hurt, I think the Rockets win 1 of the last 2 games at home and probably the championship.

Harden to me is burned out by the time playoff hoops comes around..he's busy regular season getting his and then chokes when the games matter in playoffs.....I think players like CP3 are happy to get away from playing with the guy and why would we want that dysfunction in the locker room...hard pass from me. I know he's popular with many, I'm not on that list

Dogggg, if you wouldn’t trade CJ and some secondary piece like Zach for Harden you’re just a big homer. I would also add a Harden hater, but I hate him myself and would still do it in a second. Harden is at least twice the player CJ is or ever will be.

Honestly, there should be 29 teams trying to figure out how to get him.

You need more than 1 "star" to win a title, but those stars have to complement each other rather than competing.

None of us know what is inside Harden's head, but it sure seems as if he sees his best team-mates as rivals. Putting him with a selfish headcase like Westbrook was crazy. Putting him with CP seemed to work and I wonder whose idea it was to break them up.

All this is a roundabout way of saying we need to get Dame a team-mate who is better than CJ and a better fit - and Harden isn't it. Better player, but an even worse fit. Gutting the team to acquire him would be suicide.
