Harris and three point shooting

Harris has taken off since the end of the Texas trip. In the nine games since, he is averaging 38 minutes, 17.4 points, 8.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and only 2.4 turnovers.

In that span, he is shooting 57 for 117 or 48.7% overall, 14 for 35 or 40% from the arc and 26 for 32 at the stripe or 81.3%.

(During those nine games, he is the Nets fourth best three point shooter, after Jefferson at 53.8%, Marcus Williams at 42.9%, and Carter at 41.7%)

Overall, in 16 games with the Nets, Harris has:

--set a new career high in minutes (41) then tied it.

--set a new career high in points (26) then surpassed it (27).

--tied a new career high in assists (12) then set a new career high (13) and surpassed it (15).

--set a new career high in rebounds (8).

--twice tied a career high in offensive rebounds (3).

--set a new career high in field goals (10).

--set a new career high in field goal attempts (20).

--set a new career high in three pointers (4) and tied it.

--set a new career high in three point attempts (8).

--twice tied a career high in steals (5).

--twice tied a career high in blocks (3).

The ONLY career highs left from his days in Dallas are defensive rebounds (8) and free throws made (14) and attempted (17).

Never could have assumed so many of his career highs would be broken this early.

He has impressed me, he is really the pg of our future. At first i had some doubts, but he has proven himself and im ecstatic.
And the scary thing is that he hasnt even been with us for 1 entire season and still has alot of room and time to develop.
Cant wait till next season with harris and boone developing plus our new awesome players that we get from the draft

Im sure we wont make the playoffs now.

He averaged 2.5 with dallas playing 20 -25 minutes a game
He averages the same thing with us but playing 30- 35 minutes a game
But also has more assits 5per in dallas 7.5 with us
and more points also 14per with dallas and almost 17 per with us.
More boards also. 2 per with Dallas 4.5 with us.

Actually, it's surprising to see that he has the same amount of TOPG as in Dallas (2.4 TOPG).

And the most turnovers he's had here was 6 vs. New Orleans (Chris Paul, tops in the league in SPG); while the most he's had at Dallas was 6 as well, vs. Cleveland (Lebron James, 7th in the league in SPG; & Larry Hughes, who had 7 steals that game).

He played 6 more minutes in the Nets game vs. New Orleans.

Of course, all of this was only in the 16 games he's played with the Nets so far...versus the 39 games with the Mavs. Also worthy to note he's averaging 4 more MPG with the Nets, and 6.8 APG with the nets vs. 5.3 APG with the Mavs (which sort of shows he's had an increased role with the Nets).

It would be pretty ignorant to trade Marcus IMO...

Realistically he has played pretty well with Devin and given he is only 22 years old and is coming off his best month of basketball since his injury averaging 8.4 pts, 3 assists and 2.5 rebounds and has shown flashes of even greater potential.

Devin is great and is definately a player to keep and continue to build around but it would be pretty wise to keep a player like Marcus around considering he still has 2 years left on his inexpensive rookie contract and is an excellent backup to Devin...

Having him allows for greater flexibilty in the future and great insurance in case of a injury to Devin which is very possible considering the kind of player Devin is...keep the kid.

I have never understood why people are so willing to give up on Marcus Williams. Maybe he is exasperating sometimes, maybe he hasn't lived up to fans' expectations, but he is making less than $1.5 million a year and is only 22 years old. He's not some overpriced, overhyped star. He's a kid...who is also coming off a broken foot. The two of them play well enough together considering it's only been 16 games. And Thorn still loves him.

Man neither do I...it seems like there is a common belief amongst fans that any player with talent and potential in this league needs to come in a be star immedietaly or they are a bust...

Marcus has not been in a great situation his entire career...he backed up a future HOF player who averaged 37 mins a night leaving only scant minutes to play...also he had the broken foot which people continue to ignore. Fact of the matter is he is cheap, a good backup and has a lot of potential...

Does anybody realize that Devin Harris is just now reaching his potential at 25? Marcus could still develop into a very good player given the time and right coaching. I guess some fans just need a person to hate on, Boone was the guy but he's silenced most critics.
