If there was an Olympics of box office records, surely the wizards of Hogwarts would have more than a few medals by now.
In the latest update on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2's" box office domination comes news that the "Potter" movies have collectively pushed past the "Star Wars" films to become the top grossing franchise in the history of the domestic box office.
As of Friday morning, the eight "Harry Potter" films grossed $2.234 billion domestically overall, according to a rep from Warner Bros. "Star Wars," meanwhile, pulled in $2.218 billion domestically, although this record does not reflect an adjustment for price inflation.
