I swear to God, I've never seen Victor Claver hit an outside shot. I'm sure he has done it, but it must have been when I got up to go to the refrigerator. I've never seen anyone miss from the outside so consistently. The guy is a master at it. I am in awe.

Another awesome thread. Thanks for starting it, OP.

PapaG- why are you acting like a jerk for no good reason?

Does anyone else see us cutting Claver only for him to become an amazing player for San Antonio?

Wow. Okay, I'm a believer! I saw Claver hit a 3-pointer!!!

Unreal. Somebody pinch me.

Helps a bit when you can actually play more than 10 minutes every 6 months don't ya think?

The funny thing is I hear during practice he never misses from three.

In his rookie preseason he hit a long turnaround. That helped me christen him my 2nd-favorite player before the season started, what with all the turn-on-a-dime fluidity he was showing for such a tall guy.

Despite so much Energy Bunny super-activity, his bad shooting became obvious as the season wore on.

I don't think he is. As a matter of fact, I agree with PapaG. I think one would have a good argument that the OP is pretty Jerkly...

The odd thing with Claver is he has guard/small forward skills, but his most effective position is at backup center. It reminds me of Boris Diaw. Teams tried unsuccessfully to play Diaw at SG when he entered the league but he is a far better player as a skilled unorthodox big man.

Europeans (Batum, Rudy, Claver, but not Freeland) want to be jack-of-all-trades and run around helter skelter.

Since Claver can't shoot, he should play PF, not SF. This means that the coaches should have him put on muscle. The weight will ruin his current Energy Bunny agility, but he won't need it at PF.

We have a lot of young talent and some of them will have to go.

Robinson
CJ
Barton
Claver
Joel
Leonard
Crabbe

There simply aren't enough minutes to develop them all. Who do you give minutes to? CJ or Will? Robinson or Claver? I think the team is going to have to make some decisions and choose a few guys to focus on going forward.

It's fascinating to watch when Claver is on the court, his basketball IQ has to be one of the highest on the team. His positioning, spacing and court vision are excellent. I totally can see him being one of those players that excel in San Antonio's system.

The thing about Claver, which position do you see him playing? Small forward? Stretch four? If he's a four, that puts him in a tough spot because we have LA soaking up a ton of minutes and then we have Robinson, who should really be getting minutes to develop. Where does that leave Vic?

It leaves him as the 3rd PF instead of the 3rd SF as now. No change in minutes until he puts on 20 pounds and plays Freeland style.
