You can imagine lots of bang bang plays being reviewed. Runners tagging, whether bases were touched, etc. Teaching infielders to take the play one additional step knowing a review is possible will be interesting to see how it plays out.

...I thought of one too. You know how umps have traditionally "given the bag" to the fielder covering 2B on a DP, even though his foot may not have touched the bag while in possession of the ball before relaying the ball to 1B?
...how long, before in a critical point in the game , will a sharp manager demand a replay? This will force the umps to reverse the out call at 2B, and eventually force them to do away with the "phantom" call and scrutinize the play more closely. Same thing with the phantom tag call at 2B during a stolen base. In the past, if the ball beats the runner to the bag by a good margin, the runner is usually called out whether he was actually tagged before reaching the bag or not.


...I'm sure there are some other scenarios as well.

2bmen could face more of a risk of getting injured by runners using the take-out slide as the phantom call eventually comes under closer scrutiny due to the replay rule. They'll have to make more of an effort to actually touch the bag while they have the ball due the replay rule - as they "hang in there" more often, the chances of them getting clipped by the baserunner increase.
