I just have to ask. Roy is 1-6 in the first half of tonight's game against Denver, and he's been struggling all pre-season. Something is clearly wrong. I wonder if Roy is so used to having the ball in his hands and being the "leader" of the team, that he doesn't know how to play alongside a guy like Andre Miller, who is big and strong like him, and knows how to back guys down and take them to the hoop. In other words, Miller seems to be out-Roying Roy . . . and Roy doesn't know where he fits in.

I haven't been able to watch any of the games on TV, so I may be all wet. What do you think?

Um... they have barely played together tonight. Roy has been with Blake for the most part.

Roy started the game with Blake. Roy still struggled.

It's all on Roy right now. He's gone through stretches like this before.

He's going to learn how to play well off the ball eventually. MJ shared the ball. Kobe never won a championship without Shaq until he did.

As you can tell from the Houston series, there's no way we're going anywhere with Roy as the only playmaker.

I'm just happy Miller is leading the team in shots yet again.

Neither of those guys played with a PG who led the team in shots attempted. EVER.

Second most shot attempts tonight - Steve Blake with 12

No, Blake isn't a PG. He's more of a SG. Limited PG qualities.

Miller is good at pushing the ball and creating for others and for himself.

He's better.

I don't know what's going on b/c I can't watch the games. Looking at the box score tonight it looks like another stinker. Our best player tonight is . . . Juwan Howard? Looks like Bayless is doing okay.

I'm not hitting the panic button, but it would be nice to see Roy playing well (at least some of the time) Rudy & Batum have hardly played at all. Outlaw has been pretty bad. Webster's hardly been a factor.

I guess on the bright side Oden has looked really good. Other than that, I sure hope our guys who aren't playing well (or just aren't playing period) can flip the switch when the season starts.

I'm guessing this has more to do with Roy taking the majority of the summer off than anything else. I'm confident he'll figure it out sooner than later.

Roy is too good of a player to let a player like Miller affect him negatively.

I can't wait to see evidence of this.

I think we can agree that Roy will eventually find his groove, but how long is it going to take him to do so? Pre-season is the time to get things sorted out, and there's only two pre-season game left. I certainly don't want to see the current Roy in the actual regular season.

I agree. I was concerned when I heard Roy took almost the entire summer off.

Right after the Houston series, I recall him saying that he was more confident than ever because he knew what he had to work on and that he would come back even better next year. I assumed that meant he would be getting after it this summer, but apparently not.

I'm going to hold back judgment until the regular season because he has earned the benefit of the doubt in my opinion.

If all it takes to shake Roy's confidence is to add an additional playmaker to this roster, then he's got far greater issues than that teammate ... Roy's gotta own this somehow, he's the one that took the summer off to heal up, it may take some time, but I have every confidence he'll get his groove back somehow.

You just aren't going to get better if you don't work on your game.

Signed,

Andre Miller

Plus, Roy showed up in Portland a month before camp. How is that "not working on his game"?

What happens when you don't play basketball for an entire off-season??? I bet he doesn't ever that much time away from playin ball again. He'll be fine.

He said this is the most he hasn't played basketball in an off-season ever. Sorry.

That you aren't likely to get better unless you work on your game in the off-season?

Helloooooooooooooooooooo

Miller's 33 years old. In spite of his lack of height, he's pretty much been a combo guard for most of his career. He took 14 and 13 FGA per game the past two seasons. In comparison, Ben Gordon took 16 last season, Roy took 16, and LMA took 15+. The guy is a scorer and a passer, not a pass-first PG. Combo guard, like I said.

You must not have been around this board much when this board convinced me that Miller was a pass-first PG.

I hate his game right now, and he's making this team worse. I trust this will be corrected during the first month of the season, however.

If you "trust this will be corrected," then why are you making such a big deal about it?

I think that by the end of the season, he'll have more assists than Blake had last season, and he'll be a solid #3 option on offense. There's going to be a few games where he plays like the #1 option, too - something Blake couldn't do.
