Boy that was worth a good laugh. They will probably be signed before Roy and Aldridge. You have to have your priorities you know!

The Blazers have Roy and Aldridge UNDER CONTRACT. There's no rush to sign them to extensions. We've got a lot of time to do that.

Don't let the facts get in the way of his constant complaints! The Blazers have Roy and Aldridge UNDER CONTRACT. There's no rush to sign them to extensions. We've got a lot of time to do that.

The rush is that the delay starts to convey a lack of appreciation of the players. For all the talk of "chemistry", this seems like a great way to plant some seeds of dissension...
did we or didnt we?

The "delay" is called negotiating. Roy could always end the "delay" by agreeing to whatever the Blazers want to pay him. I'm not saying he should do that, but neither should the Blazers just immediately agree to whatever Roy wants. Both sides negotiating for their own interests doesn't show a lack of respect by either side. I don't think it's going to plant seeds of dissension. Everyone involved is aware that it's a business.

Or it could be because Cunningham/Pendergraph are pretty easy signs while Roy and Aldridge are complex negotiations since they involve huge sums of money and serious long-term commitments.
In further breaking news, the Blazers ordered lunch for the front office from a Thai restaurant, showing that they prioritize that lunch over Roy and Aldridge. Roy expressed disappointment that Thai food was valued more highly than his basketball services.![]()

Was it good Thai food, or the type that cleans out your system for a good week or so?
I think I remember KP saying they would have a contract by around training camp.

Both sides may negotiate for their own interests, but that doesn't mean it should take this long of a "negotiation."
...
Just because the Blazers say this is all part of the negotiation process doesn't mean it is justified negotiations.
Blazer management has been bungling (think that's a word) their way throughout this summer
and I think their negotiations with Roy is another item on their summer list that they aren't handling well.
I agree. And just because you want it to be done fast doesn't mean it's "unjustified" negotiations. None of us have any idea what's happening in the negotiations, so my default is to assume that neither side is being villainous.
I disagree with that, considering they added an arguable top ten point guard with point guard being their position of greatest need.
Based on what, besides "I want it to be over by now?"
They mishandled Hedo (try to wine and dine him small town style when clearly money talked)
They try to bully Utah by publically talking about a toxic offer)
they use their beloved cap sapce on a 33 year old player that is a plug in at the most 3 years
If you are of the mind set that because we aren't privy to the negotiations that you will assume no one is in the wrong and this delay is just normal part of negotiations. . . well I won't be changing your mind because I am not part of the negotation process.

Agreed. If you don't know anything about it, you won't change my mind. I couldn't have said it better myself!![]()

That is the whole thing Minstrel . .. I do know something about it. As I said in the other post, I listen to what managment people say , what Roy says, what his agent says and whoever else talks about it. I look at what other teams do in a simialr situation and I make an opinion.
But if there is one thing I have learned from posting with you on the same board for years, no matter what the issue . . . I won't change your mind.

To be frank, that's because you never actually provide any reasoning or new information, in my opinion. You generally provide your own emotional reactions dressed up as evidence and then play passive-aggressive that I'm not crediting it as real reasoning.
Man you can be so arrogant at times. I don't care if you don't think I provide any reasoning or new information. But then to say I'm trying to dress up my emotional reactions as evidence is such a stupid jerkish thing to say.
Yes, I don't count reading the PR disseminated by each side as "knowledge." If you think you're getting a keen insight into what's happening from what Pritchard, Roy and Roy's agent tell reporters, that's fine.
I don't think you have any knowledge and I don't think I do, either. And we're essentially reading the same things, unless you have sources beyond the Portland and national press. That doesn't mean everything is fine, but with no knowledge of the situation I'm not willing to blame one side or the other.

Other people on this forum have changed my mind on things. It's not that I refuse to ever change my mind, it's just that I don't find the way you argue compelling. From what I can tell, you don't find the way I argue compelling either. That's fine.![]()
Oooo, someone is playing the "passive-aggressive" card again, yet not on me this time, and not as an alternative. Did we learn something new in class this summer?
It's not uncommon on the internet. You're not as unique as you imagine.Meanwhile, you are seemingly starting to personify "angry". Not a good personification for a producer, eh?
