He’s killing it in his 1st start. Looking like a veteran, making great reads, safe plays vs. the defending champs.

I had a friend that played in the starting backfield with Renfro and Terry Baker in high school.

My uncle played with Renfro’s younger brother who most said was a better athlete at Jefferson. Renfro’s younger brother unfortunately got mixed up with drugs though. My uncle is actually in the PIL Hall of Fame. He was a DT at Jeff.

I mentioned those guys because they were local dudes. That was before my time. I used to hate those mid-90’s Cowboys teams

The Cowboys became the Cowboys in Oregon. Their very first ever training camp was at Pacific University.

Only CowboyS I liked on that’ll on those teams were Jay Novacek and Alvin Harper

My friend was a better athlete than his younger brother who was drafted no. 16 by the Kansas City Chiefs. His younger brother had all kinds of records at Arizona State where he was a running back. My friend was offered a full ride at U of O as a running back but came from a fatherless large family that needed his income in order to provide for a poor family. So, he couldn't go to college and make Millions playing in the NFL. Hardest worker I ever worked with.

There have been many great Dallas Cowboys players but my favorites were Tony Dorsett, Roger Staubach, Dandy Don Meredith (turn out the lights, the party's over) and Mel Renfro. Favorite Dallas coach, Tom Landry.
The Cowboys were my second favorite team right behind the Oakland Raiders.

The only friend I had in high school who ever made the big leagues in any sport was Troy Polamalu. Completely nice and soft spoken dude. But, a beast on the field, absolutely.

My aunt and uncle were both teachers of Troy's. You probably had at least one of them as teachers if we are talking about the same high school. My aunt taught history and psychology and my uncle taught English and French before they moved around 1999-2000.

Nah. I went to South Umpqua High school and he went to Douglas. About 16 miles away. Most of my high school friends went to Roseburg High though, and met him through them.

Gotcha. Well never mind then. I thought we might have had some sort of weird "6 degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon" thing going on.

...hi-jacked!! Came in here hoping to read more about the local kid from Eugene. :sigh: @MickZagger get things back on track please!! Will the Chargers keep babying him and start Tyrod next week if his chest pains go away?? Why?? I don't understand why they didn't just hand over the reigns already...we talking about the lowly Chargers here, not the Patriots :dunno:

Did you see the game?

Herbert did GREAT! But he can't lineup under center. He needs a lot more work before he is a NFL starting quarterback. The Chiefs didn't game plan for him but if you give NFL teams time to prepare operating only out of the shotgun will not work.

Anyone watching MNF? What the hell was that cart doing on the sidelines?!?
