Can we take a two game series lead? And I will also add, can we win a mother f'ing game 2? We NEVER win game 2.

We'll find out Monday night, but if history is any guide we are 1-1 back to NY for Thursday night.

I would love to see a couple of long trends end Monday night.

It would certainly be nice but in this case I wouldn't be too unhappy with a split in Montreal.

Will be interesting to see if Price plays or needs more time off.

They said not injury related, so I expect Price to play, but we'll see.

And I will also be happy 1-1 back home Mess, but the team needs to have that must win attitude. 1-1 home against Pitt equaled 3-1 down before we knew it.

that is a very important question, I image MTL will come out and bring it in game two. But the way this team played today I think if we can hold their early attack we have a solid chance at 2-0 going home.:ghoti::MARIS61:

Here is another question will the hank cant play in Montréal bullshit finally be over.

I think the problem that was clear for montreal is their defense is slow as shit and we should get a ton of good scoring opportunities every game

It was good the pp got a little tuneup today, hopefully it can help them more than hurt.

One game at a time. Nine down and seven to go.

They've won 4 straight games now in the playoffs. When was the last time they did this? I think they win the next game if hank plays like a wall.

I think this team is winning the Cup

I, also, am a believer that 'it is one game at a time'.

In 1979 the Rangers won Game 1 vs Montreal. After that
Montreal bombarded the Rangers into submission,
and took the next four games. Then, the Rangers did not
know what hit them. They were over matched in every
aspect of the game.

I do not want to see a repeat performance. GOOOOOOO RANGERS.

well chuck this is my take, if brassard doesn't play then i can't see us winning game 2, The canadians are going to adjust and try to be more physical and try to slow us down instead of try to match us speed with speed. That didn't work very well in game 1 so there going to change the gameplan. They came out flat. If we somehow win it will be because we take advantage of odd man rushes. We are going to have a bunch of odd man rushes this series as MTL D pinch on the regular especially suban. and special teams

If i was av, i would put moore for brassard if he doesn't play, and continue to try to use our speed and see if MTL adjusts. if they don't adjust then continue to do with what works.

07 Step. We swept Atlanta.

I also think it will be difficult to win tomorrow night. Montreal knows their season is on the line, same as the Pens did in game 2 at home last round. So I expect the Habs to come out flying and play a big game. We have also lost at least the last 7 game 2's the past 3 playoff seasons...amazing stat (just like some of the others mentioned earlier).

With that said, if we can get through the first 7-10 minutes tied or ahead we have a shot. Montreal will have to start feeling at least a little nervous, especially if we are ahead.

So to me come out and stabilize the game early in terms of their crowd and energy it gives them, and let the chips fall where they may. Make Montreal play with some pressure.

If we do lose tomorrow, game 3 is a game we need to play great in. We cannot be sitting there in game 4 down 2-1 after winning game 1 again. I would like to have game 4 at home with a chance to take total control at 3-1.

Let's remember that in 2012 against the Devs we were up 1-0 and 2-1 and still lost in 6. So it is just one game and we need to stay focused. A long way to go.

BTW...speaking of 2012...I think this team is better. From Nash, to MSL, to a better McDonagh, to Zucc, to a better Kreider I believe this is a better team. On top of that, while we did go 7 in both rounds 1 & 2 again, this feels different than 12. That year all we did we pack it in and block shot after shot. And we played like 9 forwards and 4 dmen way too much. We were spent against NJ. I don't feel that at all from this team despite the fact that we went the distance in rounds 1 & 2 again. I actually feel this team is fresh and getting better, plus 3 days off before game 1, and 2 days off before games 3 & 4 is a big help IMO.

What really is annoying, the back page of today's Newsday...a little blurb on the rangers and huge picture of a horse. You have to go five pages in to read the story of the ranger game. That is unacceptable.

Agreed. This team is much better than 2012 one. More scoring depth all around this lineup. 2012 team had more grid but had no clue how to score goals. I have more confidence in this team than 2012. I think they will win this series in 6. I thought price would stone wall us again like he has done in the regular season but he seems to be off his game in the playoffs.

here is the answer...... as a rangers fan if you don't know the possiblities of what could happen by now, like dr phil would say ' what the hell is wrong with you!

no matter who the coach is/was, last 10 years we've have had a tough time scoring, our PP has been abysmal, and we make it much harder on ourselves to put a team away..

lets go rangers

Biggest difference between this team and '12 is the style of play and the depth which is related. That '12 team was just done mentally and physically after a long grinding shot blocking 150% effort for 82 games and 14 playoff games before they faced NJ. This team is different deeper and fresher.

Anyone know a site that shows the actual amount of blocked shots, cause all I hear is that the team leads the playoffs in blocked shots still.

We do. And that is a good stat, but we play a way different game overall, don't just pack into the front of the net. And the most important difference is the depth and the amount of players we play. In 12 we played 9 forwards and 4 dmen into the ground. We have a lot more balance this season. More guys play more minutes. That is biggest difference IMO.

The overall roster is a big improvement. That has a lot to do with AV allowing players to play their game and not thrown into doghouses.

Kreider and Zucc are the biggest examples of what you are talking about Al. Two players who were buried by Torts, and look at them now. Maybe a touch unfair with regards to Kreider since he has matured, but still is what it is.

AV said that the biggest lesson that he learned in SCF in 2011 is to roll 4 lines, even if there was more chances to win that particular game by playing 9 best guys and 2 best def pairs. AV said in 2011 he played some guys so hard that by the time that they got to SCF no more gas left AV believes that if you are going for the cup entire team needs to contribute and 3 lines 2 def pairs will not work. According to AV in today's NHL you cannot win with 3 lines and team that does it will lose. Interesting take!

He's right, its the fatigue factor big time. I'd say roll 4 lines till the SCF and then you do what you need to for wins.

You need to switch papers during the playoffs Al (back page of Post "French Toast" with full page pic of MSL celebrating his goal), even a small pic of CK on front page "Blue em Out". I've been saying all year that this team was going to easily make the playoffs and was better than 2012's, they are a much deeper team with 2 sometimes 3 good scoring lines and a solid 4th line. I think Torts underachieved during his tenure here with the talent he had and his short stint in Vancouver kind of bears that out. If Brassard is hurt I'd give Miller the nod. I don't think the Habs will be looking to take out Lundy since the refs will surely be looking for such play but they might turn a blind eye to rough play with CK, he's going to have to keep his cool like he did with Prust.

well chuck this is my take, if brassard doesn't play then i can't see us winning game 2, The canadians are going to adjust and try to be more physical and try to slow us down instead of try to match us speed with speed. another good prediction by me, score on odd man rushes, (goal 2) and score on PP ( goal 3) we win, next game they need to come out hard and put this team away, more odd man rushes more goals
