so sick of the fryes if the world. time to man up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your not going to love your way to a title KP!!!!!!!!!!! grab your sack!

Sadly, you have a point.

KP has been too focused on filling the roster with choir boys. We need somebody (besides Joel) who has a mean streak.

LMA has a mean streak. Remember when he had had enough of KG's shit and slapped him in the back of the head. I think Bayless also has a mean streak.

I don't have a problem with the players we have with regard to toughness. We just need to learn to play better and make some adjustments- like, not letting Roy walk the ball up coourt when we have a good fastbreak started. Things like that.

Is there any way to interest you in becoming an Lakers fan?

I love your soft f's, so go uck yourself :-)

Since Frye has no scrotum, that indicates the rest of the team doesn't? I suppose if he scratched his non-existent nuts, the rest of the teams ball would have itchy balls too?

Frye was and still is trade filler.

uh... Brandon Roy is the toughest mofo we've had on this team since Pippen.

Yeah, the players seem to be pretty tough to me. I don't understand the "choir boy" criticism. That refers to their behaviour, and I don't see how off-the-court problems or on-the-court bad behaviour would help the team win. They don't seem to back down from anyone. Oden was sometimes tentative, but it was his first season and in addition to his own foul problems, he was facing a very tight whistle. Even then, he still committed hard fouls against various challengers and cheerfully dunked and hung on the rim a few times this season against Shaq.

Batum wanted to own Pau Gasol and make him like it. Bayless is basically a glowering ball of intensity. Roy wants to ram the ball down the throat of every defense. Aldridge plays tough, physical defense and smacked KG. I'm really not seeing a lack of toughness and attitude. And I'm glad that they're good people who don't get into trouble. That has nothing to do with toughness or will to win.

Phooey.

When I say we need toughness, I mean a Mo Lucas/Kermit Washington type. I'm talking about a Jeff Ruland or a Rick Mahorn. I'm talking about a guy like Millsap or Landry who take rebounds away from taller players, and dare them to do anything about it. For purposes of this discussion, perimeter players need not apply.

So basically this whole thread comes down to the back up PF position, (14 minutes a game) because as pointed out Roy, LMA, Batum, Oden and Bayless all have a pair of balls. There is nothing wrong with the way KP drafts/acquires players, we just need a couple more pieces.

Portland is one of the best rebounding teams in the league. If, as Pinwheel says, all you mean is that Portland needs a good, tough backup power forward, I agree with you. Beyond that, I don't really see what toughness you're saying they lack.

They need to play better defense, but I think that's a question of focus, not toughness. And it's more a perimeter problem, and you said you're not talking about the perimeter players. I think Portland's interior defense is quite tough.

So what you are saying is that the only prerequisite for a drafted player is to possess a pair of balls and that KP should grab his sack. Got it. Good plan :twothumbs:

What ever happen to mixum? DId I spell that right? Been so long.

Really? IMO the best thing that could happen to this team is if one of our guys punched somebody right in the face and took a 5 game suspension just to set it to rest. Right now, this team reminds me of teams past that were lacking the tough guy. Kind of like Clyde and company before Buck Williams came on board. Or before Briant Grant came on board. Right now, this team cries out for tougness. You know, I don't like them, but if you go watch a Celtics game right now, you will see a lot of players who have developed into tough players. Go watch a few of their games, and then go back and watch the body language of the Blazers during the playoffs, and tell me there isn't a difference.

There were a few times during the season that we saw the Blazers get jacked up and pissed off to face an opponent. Boston the 2nd time. LA every time. San Antonio. Those were the only games where the guys came to play with a scowl on their face and the tude to win. We saw nothing of it in the playoffs, nor the rest of the season.
