John Hollinger (Insider) says the Bulls could be the next coming of the 1977 Blazers -- a playoff-green team that takes home gold: "To find a precedent, we have to go all the way back to 1977 and the Portland Trail Blazers, who won the title in their first playoff appearance as a franchise, despite having virtually no playoff experience at all on the roster -- a combined six rounds of ABA playoff action for Dave Twardzik and Maurice Lucas and 12 games by backup guard Herm Gilliam. So Chicago fans can cling to the fact that teams with an outspoken, long-haired center who won a championship in college seem to be an exception to the rule."

Who's going to beat them?

It's Derrick Rose or bust in crunch time for that team and I don't think it will be enough.

Still got Boston winning the conference and meeting up with the Lakers.

It's going to be Chicago vs the Spurs for another unwatchable Championship series

Actually, I think it will probably be Miami against the Lakers, simply because I think Stern wants that matchup.

So does that mean Derrick Rose's superstar career effectively ends next season?

The comparison is only valid with regards to playoff experiance.

I don't think the situations are very similar otherwise.

And I don't think the Bulls will win a title this year but they are going to be contenders for the next few years minimum.

LeBron is a fool for not going to Chicago. follow in MJ's footsteps, come on?!? One of the biggest basketball cities in the world. Him and Rose would have been $$$ together. Guess hindsight 20/20.

I'd say the Blazers with G.O. are the next coming of the 1977 Blazers

Thanks. Winston provides a whole different look than the usual ESPN columnists consulting with, before conforming to, each other. Nice to see creative rankings.

Holy crud look at our "NBA rating" (like a simple rating) shoot up over the last 15 days versus the entire season! Welcome Crash! Thank god for Cleveland!

12th for the season, 8th in the last 30 days, 7th in the last 15 days.

McMillan always has a strong season finish, Wallace or not. I call him a great underdog coach. (Except in the playoffs, when you can't surprise anyone.)
