BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) -- Police in Bellingham, Wash., say a young man accused of yelling slurs at a lesbian couple and smashing a window of their car soon found himself pinned to the ground by one of the victims.
Police spokesman Mark Young says the man confronted the couple outside a bar early Sunday when he saw them embracing.
Young says when the women "expressed no interest in having a conversation," the man smashed the rear window of a Toyota they arrived in, causing about $600 damage.
The Bellingham Herald reports that's when one of the women tackled the heckler and pinned him until a bouncer from a nearby bar came to help.
Young says 22-year-old William Adam Lane was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of malicious harassment, a hate crime.
