<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What's going on between Allan Houston and Knicks president Isiah Thomas? Despite denials from a Knicks spokesman, a well-placed NBA source yesterday said Houston definitely has been offered to Toronto by Thomas in his effort to trade for Vince Carter. In addition, the decision to activate Houston from the injured list Tuesday in Memphis before his planned comeback tomorrow in Washington also seems to have caught the two-time All-Star shooting guard by surprise.
Carter left the Raptors' game last night in Detroit with a strained left Achilles tendon and is listed as day-to-day, which could put any deal on hold. The mere fact Houston's name is in play doesn't mean he'll be heading to Toronto. Thomas is willing to take the contract of Jalen Rose in a deal for Carter, but his offer of Tim Thomas and Houston, along with other pot-sweeteners, such as Jerome Williams and draft picks, isn't likely to get it done. "I don't know what Toronto will do, but I wouldn't do it," the personnel expert said. "Tim Thomas is not great, and he's way overpaid. Houston hasn't even played yet.
</div>How would you guys feel if Allan Houston, Tim Thomas JYD and other players were traded for Vince Carter and Jalen Rose? I also heard Jerome Williams could be in the deal. It probably wont happen but, it has been a rumor for a while and this is Isiah Thomas so we never know. Well, I know the main guy in this is Allan Houston but, wait a minute. JYD is our best defender/best hustler/best energy off the bench. In my book this guy is untouchable. Jalen Rose and Vince Carter are offensive people correct? And if we trade away our best defender on our already weak defensive team wouldn't we just be an even worse defensive team? No way trade JYD!
Now back to Houston. I think we will need Allan Houston more than we will Vince Carter and Jalen Rose. Rose will be a great option off the bench but, the guy is 31 with a huge contract. His best years are definitely behind him. VC is definitely not looking good. He is averaging a career low 15ppg, 3rpg, and 3apg. Carter wont really do anything. He is a slasher by nature and has fallen in love with the jumpshot. He doesn't really slash anymore and his jumpshot is no where near Houston's. We already have a slasher in Jamal Crawford, and we don't need another one. Also I am concerned with VC's attitude. Let's say the Knicks aren't doing so well (hopefully not). Will he want out of NY aswell? And he is still injury prone. I know we still have Penny Hardaway, and other SF options but, we can't afford injuries if we are trying to make a strong push this year. Allan Houston is a perfect fit for the Knicks. I don't know how many times this was said but, he stretches the defense so much that teams wont play any zone (the defense giving us a lot of problems.) The way Nazr Mohammed has been playing will only benefit because it will only give him more space to do his thing in the paint. We will have close to a real complete lineup with H2O, Steph, and Nazr. I especially think this will be effective when the Knicks go into the playoffs. We will have an experienced shooter who shoots 42% from 3 for his career in the playoffs. The only real concern I have with Houston is his knees. From what he has said and done they should be fine. The Knicks were saying that he never missed a beat so I guess I will have to take their word for it but, seeing is definitely believing. If he is still the same Allan Houston from 02-03 I am almost sure we can make it to the conference finals.
I can't believe I'm saying this but, let's keep TT. His huge contract is about to be expiring in 06 and we can get some great players to give teams flexibility. The Hawks traded Rasheed Wallace for some cap room. I'm pretty sure there will be a team looking to get some space. Besides, if no one is willing to take on TT's contract we let it expire and save some cap room ourselves. Link
