How about revisiting Iggy?

I know Iguodala's name has been tossed around here quite a bit in the past. Wasn't there some rumors before/during the draft about the Sixers wanting to trade him?

He has a pretty hefty contract and three years left. Maybe we could work something out? Felton and Iggy in the backcourt doesn't knock me out but it's a hell of a lot better than what we have now, with Wes coming off the bench.

Well, as much as I would like to upgrade the point guard position, who is available?

Chris Paul? I doubt he'd accept a trade here.

Deron Williams? Probably not.

Steve Nash? Too old.

Honestly, at this point, Felton isn't THAT bad. I don't think we're going to be able to upgrade him through free agency and I don't know of any upgrades that would be available through trade that would come here. Our best bet is the draft and right now that would mean tanking. So we either blow it up or we ride it out with Felton and try to fill some holes.

I think the Sixers would want good young talent back in order to bite. Adding Iggy would also take away our cap flexibility next offseason. Now I think that'd be worth doing if we were only losing Cambys expiring contract or such, but I'd guess we'd have to include something like Batum and a couple picks. So combining those costs makes the deal a no go.

If we were a contender then adding Iggy could be the piece that puts us over the top, in which case I may be more in favor of such a deal. But I just don't think we're quite there yet.

Also, the 6ers didn't have the amnesty back when there were rumors of them looking to get out of Iggys contract. Philly has good revenue streams so paying a contract isn't as bad as in some small markets. If they eventually are able to add a stud free agent similar to what the Knicks just did, the 6ers already have the flexibility to get out of Iggys deal as the Knicks did with Billups. Dumping Iggys contract on us is now far less enticing from their end then prior to the lockout.

Iggy would be a nice get, but I think Portland needs to go young. Adding Iggy might get us in the playoffs, but we will still be that team that is caught between contending and rebuilding for future contention. Making MM, contentious

I don't get it, I think a Wes/Batum SG rotation is solid with upside and maybe E Williams gets some minutes. We have much more pressing needs in the front court.

replace Roy's pts? a second yr Wes Matthews avg'd 16 pts on a bum ankle most of the year and has a very good 3 pt shot. Is he Roy? of course not but he does score and still has room to improve. Nic Batum by all acts is improved offensively and this could be a breakout yr for him. And possible the best athlete on the team plays SG and that E Willaims who obviosuly needs work but does have a lot of upside. Forget SG it's covered.

Felton should add scoring over Miller with a better outside shot, G Wallace should score better as he is better integrated with outr offense and players, and he played FIVE years with Felton. IMO or only "starting scoring black hole is at C and the the big Q and weakness is off the bench scoring

I think our entire bench is weak, with the exception of Batum. Our backup point guard is either Smith or Johnson. That doesn't inspire me at all. Our backup power forward is.... who exactly? Kind of hard to grasp the fact that a team that was once two or three deep at every position is now down to a rotation of about six guys.

I don't think we'll miss much in scoring like Blazinaway said, rather I think we'll really miss out on having a go-to guy in the clutch. And those guys are hard to find and obtain.

I was talking with my father about that last night. Scorers are easy to find, but guys who can actually put you on their back and carry a team are rare. If we'd had Roy on the 1999-2000 team with Pippen, Wallace, etc, I guarantee we don't lose game 7 to the Lakers. Roy would not have allowed us to lose that 15 point lead.

After seeing his act in the playoffs last season, no way. In 5 playoff games against the Heat he scored a grand total of 57 points.

He can't shoot and we already have enough wings that play defense.

well it is what it is and I will offer the stark reality that we have no realistic echance to contend this year, so then what's the plan? - is an aging Iggy on a big contract the right move given where this team is? I don't think so at all. I think we make a move if one presents itself and see what we have in Felton, how Nic plays as SG when he gets his chance, does Wes improve and what does EWill and and Nolan have? With a lot of capspace potential this summer and increased trading ability that is where our best chance lies to fill the holes we have, we try to at least get some temporary help up front and then evaluate the team this season so we can make our best choices next summer. That's my take

That's my feeling as well. Expectations are low and this team w/o Roy needs to play some games to see what we actually have. The cap room in the summer will come in handy if we can pull off one of those mythical "lopsided trades."
