Since I'm retired and have nothing better to do, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what we can do with Raef's expiring contract. I've been through every teams roster several times and there just isn't much there that makes sense for us... except maybe Gilbert Arenas. Problem is, I just don't know that much about him. Would he be a good pg next to BRoy? How would he fit, his profile seems to be what we need. Your thoughts?

Edit........... How coachable is he?

Good player but huge contract, and I think a huge ego that would become just a distraction on the team. And no one knows how he'll look after his injury now. He looked pretty poor trying to come back last year in the playoffs.

I'd rather cut my dick off, put it in a blender, freeze it into the shape of a bullet, load it into a gun and kill myself than have Arenas on the Blazers.

Here is his profile from http://hoopshype.com/players/gilbert_arenas.htm

Very explosive... Great quickness... Very good slashing skills... Nice shot off the dribble... Can post up smaller guards... Able to score in many different ways... Hits impossible shots... Unlimited range... Can play the two spot... Has improved his playmaking skills... Very passionate player... Takes some shots he should not take... Not the most accomplished defender... One of the best guards in the NBA.

Hell, Paul Allen would be paying his salary, not us, so I'm not worried about his salary. We're going to be so far over the salary cap anyhow in a few years, what difference is it if we're an extra $15 mil over the the current projection if it will bring us a championship ring? The biggest question is, is he coachable? Can Nate get him playing more team oriented ball and better defense. He could immediately solve our point guard problem, and might be attainable for Raef's expiring contract plus a few non-core players.

If we're going to trade Raef's expiring contract, it needs to be for a very good pg. I don't see anyone else out there that fit's our need that is attainable without giving up some of our core.

He hasn't played in a year and half. He may never get back to being explosive. Just not worth the risk.

I'm guessing that would be about a .22 caliber, right?

No thanks. Arenas is all about Arenas. I don't want him anywhere near the Blazers.

1) Injury prone
2) Huge contract
3) High volume shooter

These three reasons would be why I wouldn't want Arenas. Maybe a couple years ago, but not now.

So......

that's a qualified yes?

As injury prone as he is, why would you even consider Arenas and his gi-huge-in contract?

Getting shot by your own penis? Nice

It would be the only way he'll ever fulfill his vow to "drop 50 on Portland".

Gotta be hard playing ball with that albatross hanging on his neck.

I'm pretty sure that (depending on the gun, of course), the intense heat and pressure that comes with firing would basically vaporize the frozen penile mixture and you'd be right back where you are now....shooting blanks.

Arenas is like the Zach Randolph of point guards.

I'll ditto what sabas4mvp said.
