I don't really get it. How is he different than any of the millions of other people who have started a small business?
Other than the mattress delivery by bike. That's pretty cool.

I thought it was cool that he totally strayed from his experience (comfortabilities?) as an executive and went with his (educated) gut instincts. Essentially, re-invented himself at middle-age...with growing children, no less!

Seems like circumstances forced him to do that. Would be a bigger story if he'd quit his job as an ad exec to start the mattress store.

Either way, he started a business with absolutely "no" knowledge of the industry, itself. I'd venture to guess that most small business entrepreneurs have, at least, an inkling of what they're getting into. This cat totally went on a "whim and a prayer". That was the impressive part to me.
