How good would we have been if we had signed Hibbert?

Genuine question. He really was an ideal piece. I keep hoping that Indy gets cold feet about his contract and offers to unload him on us. But then we would have to give stuff up, whereas we would've just signed him before.

Of course, how good would we have been? First round exit? Second round? We wouldn't've been a contender... would we?

We would have been a lot better. With the injuries we are still at best a first round and out team this year though.

But next year you get to 2nd round and you keep building for their. Free agents would want to come eventually (and we wouldn't even have to throw max at them all).

It would have been very nice to get him...

We'd either be talking about the game tonight vs the Spurs or the game tonight vs the Thunder.

Would we have still signed Hickson. Sounds funny but that may have made a big difference. Hickson coming off of our bench would have been nice. I believe we would have made the playoffs and probably looked at picking up some guys like K-Mart later in the season the playoffs and maybe even made a little noise. But I agree that next year would have been even better

No, we wouldn't have ended up with Hickson coming back. But we probably would have found another big for the bench.

Hurts to think about it. We would be in the playoffs with our PG, PF and C set for the next many years--wondering what wings we could add. Oh well.

We would have had the same record, because as soon as the ink dried on the contract he would have been out the whole season with microfracture surgery.

Much better. It's hard to imagine what the ceiling would be with a very good defensive center considering how horrible the bench was and still would have been with or without hibbert

With Hibbert, I think we finish ahead of the L*kers.

If we'd signed Hibbert, we wouldn't have purposely stocked the worst bench in the league. Between Hibbert and a better bench, I could see us in the second round.

Playoffs for sure. He's slow, methodical, and can barely jump, but he's effective as hell. Stats understate his impact.

Olshey waited till August 7 to hire Stotts. With Hibbert, he'd have hired a more defensive coach.

Floor = 1st round
Ceiling (this year) = 2nd round

Something about Hibbert seems to make me think of Kevin Duckworth.

I doubt it's defensive presence. Duck's best season shotblocking he averaged 0.6 a game... Roy has averaged over 2 for each of the last 3 years. Hibbert is also a much better rebounder then Kevin was.

Is it RH's demeanor that reminds you of Kevin?

Unfortunately for Portland, and fortunately for Indiana, Kevin Pritchard didn't let Hibbert go this past summer.

Pritchard makes another no-brainer decision, then seeks press adoration while he vacations between drafts.
