So it seems that we're down to two players that most fans want to target. Butler and Wallace. Assuming they are available for the right package of talent and financial relief...how do we make this happen?

For example, outside of Wallace, I don't see many players on Charlotte that I'd like to add to our team, so that means we'll be taking on some players that are fairly lackluster in order to do so.

Here's your challenge, make you most feasible and realistic trade proposal using any Charlotte player (in conjunction with Wallace of course) for RLEC and a choice of Webster/Outlaw/Sergio/Frye/Diogu/Randolph...maybe Rudy if you really have to or think of a unique scenario.

For example, I wouldn't mind bringing in Raja Bell but given Charlotte's lack of SG depth that won't happen unless they get a SG like Rudy in return.

So whom do you want to see Portland bring in...Diaw? Felton? We may have to take Nazr regardless. Come up with you Charlotte-inspired trades so we can see what might be possible.

Thanks all!

He's probably their one of maybe two untouchables but DJ Augustine is going to be good. Really good.

For the record, if we can get Butler any other player, Wallace included, shouldn't be options.

It's all about getting Wallace, whomever else is coming back is a pure throw in that I'd just as soon waive. taking back a crappy player is just the cost of doing business.

Speak of the devil... just posted this on an O-Live comment thread.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cvv9k5

Portland:
Out - RLEC, Rodriguez, Diogu, S. Randolph
In - Felton, Mohammad, Salmons

Charlotte:
Out - Felton, Mohammad
In - Bobby Jackson, Diogu

Sacramento:
Out - Salmons, Jackson
In - RLEC, Rodriguez, Randolph

An everybody wins deal.

Portland adds solid PG and SF, as well as veteran C depth / 6 more C fouls / new body for Oden to batter in practice.

Charlotte said the price for Felton would be Mohammad's contract. Blazers do that, plus give Larry Brown the veteran PG we know Larry Brown wants. Everyone knows Larry Brown loves his veterans.

Sacramento gets the RLEC, moves 10 mil in payroll, and gets their "PG of the future" in Sergio.

Note: I don't think Charlotte is going to trade Wallace. Salmons is a halfway decent SF with a good contract.

In my opinion, this is the most realistic:

We give them a mulligan on Mohammed, and we upgrade from Outlaw (who's durable) to Wallace (who's less so). It's clearly not an even talent swap, but they lose a bad contract, get a good player on a good deal and one who's more durable.

I don't know, I want them to throw in CP3. Never mind that they don't have him, they should go out and get him and deliver him to us. With a bow on top. And a box of chocolates.

Am I getting a wee bit greedy?

I told you to not to watch the All-Star Game on X.

Well, you shouldn't have mumbled so much. I couldn't tell what you were saying. Too late now.

What's Wallace's health status right now? Will he be back this season?

According to reports, he's going to play this week.

Wallace and Nazr for Raef and WEbster and Sergio... I'd do it. Nazr sits on the bench/gets cut... we get our SF... we help clear out some logjams and cut our rotation to 10...

Blake | Bayless
Roy | Rudy
Wallace | Batum
Aldridge | Outlaw
Oden | Przybilla

Yeah, large trades involving 7+ players don't really happen that much. I can see that one potentially working. Like I said though, it's hard to matchup Wallace with other contracts to make it really work well.

Actually for once Chad Ford/ESPN has the fairest scenario: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=TradeOptions-090217

Trail Blazers send Raef LaFrentz, Sergio Rodriguez and Nicolas Batum to the Bobcats for Gerald Wallace and Sean May

Although i would prefer to substitute Shavlik Randolph for Sergio.. Isn't Randolf a NC guy?

I was just looking at the Trade Machine and was playing with getting Wallace/May back, but I don't want to send Batum back, and you don't have to. It could be Sergio/RLEC and that's it.

If you asked me about that yesterday I'd say you're crazy but after hearing how valued RLEC is, maybe it'll happen.

Now you're just getting greedy.

No way we get Wallace without sending at least some talent back. I don't think Charlotte is as concerned with money as some of the other teams. Look at their recent trades.

I know, that is completely unrealistic. Not to mention Charlotte doesn't need more PG depth. I'm just not high on taking a bunch of their other players, and would like Bell but he's hard to move since they traded Matt Carrol a few weeks ago.

Wallace and Nazr for Batum and Raef.

I hate to get rid of Batum, but it's something I think they would go for. Batum would probably like playing with Diaw there. Who knows. Depends on what other offers are coming in for Raef's contract, and how enticing they are, but under the "You have to give to get", I can see this as a possibility.

Looks fair to me. They unload a bad contract, get massive cost savings and get a high upside prospect at the position they just lost.

I think LB would LOVE Batum.

Losing Batum would suck.... no way to convince them that Outlaw is the second coming of Tracy McGrady?
