Everybody on the team should have been that upset. Why do you have to be a veteran to really care about wins and losses?
Still, I salute Howard. He got everybody's attention, and it paid dividends.

Part of it (sadly) may have to do with the kinds of players KP has drafted. There seems to be a whole lot of mild mannered, milquetoast, mellow, 'good character' guys on this squad. You definitely don't want a room full of hot-heads, but this team is pretty devoid of fire for the most part.
That's an interesting theory considering the team is still in the playoff hunt after losing Oden >50% of the year, Przybilla for > 50% of the year, Roy for ~25% of the year so far, Outlaw for 100% of the year, Rudy for ~ 40% of the year, and Batum for >80% of the year. Calling into question the desire of the players, who have done nothing short of playing their asses off this year when they could have felt sorry for themselves and cashed a paycheck, while sitting from the sidelines seems odd to me.
I wonder if we're watching the same team?
Outlaw has not missed 100% of the season. He's missed 80%. So yeah, maybe we are watching different teams.
There is a difference between desire and leadership. What Howard did falls under the leadership category.
Roy leads, on the court, through his play. With him out, the Blazers need someone like Howard to step up and fill the leadership void. That's exactly what Howard did.
The fact that he's a 16-year veteran, usually quite jovial, and playing well above expectations at the age of 37 made what he did have an especially big impact on his team. He has the respect of his teammates. And when he's upset about the way they play, they respond. If one of the young players had had a similar tirade, it would not have had the same effect.

Nate and his amazing deductive abilities... Mere mortals would have also suspected Miller, Cunningham, Pendergraph, and Mills.“I didn’t know who did that, but I kind of figured it was Howard,’’ McMillan said. “Because he was the new guy in the locker room, and it hadn’t been done before.’’

...this is awesome! GO JUWAN!!I agree with this. I wish Andre Miller had a little more of that in him. He's playing very well and is the best 'established' player on the team with Roy out (LMA is still too young and seems to be more of a follower at this point in terms of leadership), and I think the young players would respond to him in a similar manner.
Just kidding...this is awesome! GO JUWAN!!
You know Juwan is a good guy when he felt bad for the mess he made and mentioned the guy by name (Matt) that would have to clean it up.
He didn't WANT to do it, but he knew it NEEDED to be done.

So all we need is someone to destroy tubs of ice and water in the locker room every day and then we can win all our games.![]()
