My guess is they are completely fine

My Florida cousins decided to shelter in place. No word yet.

Brought 20" of rain. Flooding shouldn't be too bad. Luckily this storm wasn't the end all be all some predicted.

That's about a 1/3 of the rain Harvey dumped on Houston, but I don't think Tampa is designed for mass rain... not sure though?

All in all, for the US anyway, not that bad

All my Miami friends got hit pretty hard, still no power. My Orlando friends said it was nowhere near as bad as they all expected.

In the midst of a record hurricane season, meteorologists are paying close attention as storms take shape and gather strength. Here’s a step-by-step guide to how hurricanes form.

  • STEP 1

A tropical disturbance is created when Mneseus, son of Poseidon and reigning King of Atlantis, strikes a deadly blow to a multi-headed hydra by ramming his trident through its heart

  • STEP 2

Dispatch gets tip about a bunch of shady-looking clouds loitering off the coast of Venezuela

  • STEP 3

Red arrows on weather chart start going fucking nuts

  • STEP 4

Tropical storm builds chrysalis around itself and emerges 10 days later as a mature hurricane

  • STEP 5

Hurricane’s name is selected from a pre-approved list of people who have wronged meteorologists

  • STEP 6

Channel 7 pulls out the big wind sock

  • STEP 7

Storm putters around Atlantic ocean before working up courage to go on land

  • STEP 8

It’s really coming down out there

  • STEP 9

The arrival of a windbreaker-clad Anderson Cooper signals the storm surge is at its peak

  • STEP 10

Hurricane suddenly not so tough away from its precious lukewarm ocean water

  • STEP 11

Hurricane enjoys 1-2 years of being the most powerful ever recorded

Perectly safe here. Aside from no power and getting no sleep locked in at work. A lot of the areas just above sea level are flooded. Im good at about 9 feet though.

LIMBAUGH WAS RIGHT.

“These storms, once they actually hit, are never as strong as they're reported,” Limbaugh claimed on his syndicated radio show. He added that “the graphics have been created to make it look like the ocean's having an exorcism, just getting rid of the devil here in the form of this hurricane, this bright red stuff.”

Except Harvey was bigger than reported.

Right @Mediocre Man?
Nope. They knew it was going to flood everything. It was a rain event. I said that in the Harvey thread. The Hurricane was going to be all but over once it got towards Houston. Some of smaller towns on the way got obliterated though. We got some wind, but the rain was our issue. 60" in a lot of areas. Some parts still under water. Some cities still without water.

The issue Harvey brought was it moved over Houston and basically stopped. Then moved back over.

Many in Tampa lost power, but my neighbors said my neighborhood didn't. Trees across the street blew over, but (unimaginably) my diseased, 40 y/o pines that I'm just waiting for the permit from the county before I chop them down, are still standing. Of course Irma couldn't save me a few grand in tree-removal...

The predicted storm surge never really materialized in Tampa, though South Tampa flooded similarly to if there was a wetter-than-normal rainstorm. Our kids' school's courtyard had about 6 inches pooled up, but even that's mostly gone now.

I'm heading back on the first flight tomorrow to help with cleanup and assess the house. Family will stay in AZ until everything's back in order. Gramma's house is warm, big and has a pool. ;)

My power came back while i was sitting on the couch unpacking so i opened the fridge and beer was still cold. I was probably only without power for a couple hours tops. Everything in freezer still frozen through. Yay.

Can you still access pornhub?

The food work gave us gave me food poisoning. I wonder how many sorry saps it took out.

Have family in Miami. They are ok.

Maria seems like an evil twin. Headed straight for PR as it still recovers from Irma
