Unfortunately I don't think we'll hold off Memphis. They just have a better team than we do currently. With all of our injuries I just don't think we'll make it any more. I hope I'm wrong.

I wanted to come here and post some evidence showing that they only beat below 500 teams or something along those lines. But I can't. They have beat the Lakers twice and they have also beat Miami and Dallas early in the season. Perhaps a better hope is that utah or Denver will drop? Worst case scenario, we get in the lottery.

ive been saying this for a while.

we need to compare schedules but it isnt looking good. with that said the grizz just finished the easiest stretch of schedule they will face all year so i knew they would make up major ground. someone will need to post schedules for portland and memphis. maybe their gm on his guarantee for playoffs was correct.

suns arent done either but i think rockets being 5 back will be all she wrote for them.

well denver wont make playoffs if they trade melo. utah will figure out this slide.

but i have to say grizz are getting in.

i don't either but we've also gone from 7 games behind utah to only 2.5 in just 11 games, so there is reason for optimism even if the griz stay hot.

this stretch was the stretch the grizz were gonna win games. very weak schedule.

It's hard for me to make predictions about our playoff chances because I don't know what our team is going to look like after the trade deadline.

well maxie assumimg pryz is gone and its for a pick.....

lets hear a "as of today" prediction

As for today does not tell us what happens to Camby and what happens to Roy even if we trade Joel for a pick.

This team is in turmoil - there are so many unknowns that making this prediction is very risky. If Roy comes back and can play like the Roy of the past for 20 minutes a game - this is a huge change, as it moves our 2nd unit from being god awful to being among the best in the league, for example. If Camby comes back strong - replacing Joel for a pick is meaningless. On the other hand, what happens if LMA falls apart after playing as the 1st option for 40 minutes a game?

Too many unknows. This team has too many questions marks about it to make a really educated guess at this point.

Z-Beast.

I dunno if the Blazers get in. I still think we're better than the Nuggets but the competition at the bottom of the playoff ladder is so intense it seems the odds are against us.

We just have to let the games play out. After Wesley went out last night though, I see this team depending on the starters to carry too much of the load, and they are starting to break down because of it. When rested, they play great and can carry the team. But most nights they aren't rested, and are playing too many minutes becuase the bench stinks so bad. It wasn't that long ago many on this board were concerned about Roy playing too many minutes. How many times is the same mistake going to be made?

I might be in a minority, but I'd rather miss the playoffs and try to retool for next season (if there is one) and beyond. I don't want a repeat of last year where we go into the playoffs weak and injured. Sure, there's a chance for an upset, but I just don't see us doing anything other than getting dropped in the first round.

Me as well. If there is no chance of Roy coming back strong - and if no impact trade for success this season is available, I think we might as well trade Miller/Camby/Joel for picks/projects and make a run in the future, rebuilding around LMA/Nic/Batum.

def in minority.

anyhow.... that grizz vs blazer game in Portland WILL LIKLEY BE HUGE IN APRIL!!!

assuming we are still in the hunt.... which is a big IF

We will make it in. We will make a small trade to big up another big, not a star but at least a legit NBA player. Memphis is going to trade Zach since they won't pay him as much as he wants, and the Nuggets are going to trade CA. Maybe both Zach and the CA trades won't happen, but 1 of them will which will push us into the playoffs which is what I want.

Do you think you're in the majority?

I'd rather have the Blazers make it in as the 8th seed than be the 9th or 10th seed.

Would I prefer them to get a top 5 pick to making the playoffs this year? Yes.

You know what that means? Time to shut it down! Maybe LMA should take a little vaca!

I'd prefer them to win the championship and have the #1 pick in the draft.

I'm sure this is what Stern is hoping for also.

Rudy (Bristol)

Who gets the 8th seed in West? Blazers or Grizz?
John Hollinger (2:53 PM)

I think there's a decent chance both get in, but I have to take one Memphis has a much stronger chance because the schedule is strongly in their favor the rest of the way. BTW, Grizzlies and Blazers play on the second-to-last day of the season in Portland and the winner also gets the tie-break -- that could be the decide

Do you think the Grizzlies will jump the Trail Blazers and make the playoffs?
John Hollinger (2:40 PM)

For the first time in a long time, today I'm projecting that the last spot won't come down to Memphis and Portland but rather Portland and Utah -- that's how far the Jazz have fallen. Memphis has a very favorable schedule the rest of the way and if t

blazers will make the playoffs. not sure which team will be left out, but i'm 100% confident that the blazers will find a way in. this is not based on schedule, stats or anything else but blind blazers nuthuggary. LA and Wes will lead us there.

After last night, CoolStandings moved us down to 9th place, predicted. It's not even that close right now, but it'll be back and forth. This isn't permanent.

7 44.9 Utah
8 44.2 Memphis
9 43.3 Portland

Memphis' remaining home-away game ratio is 19-13. Ours is 17-16. The remaining opponents win records are even (.533 Memphis, .528 Portland).

compare utah. they have at least a slightly tougher remaining schedule than we do.

:dunno:

Many fans have pointed to fatigue/lack of depth as being a significant part of the team's problems. If that is true, it is only going to get worse as the season wears on.

Too bad there is no way the front office could have seen that coming!:sherlock:
