Chantix was a miracle drug for me. It's now a little over 4 months since I last smoked. I did the program for 2 or 3 weeks and stopped taking it. I didn't need it once I got past the really hard part (first few days, withdrawal). I was a 1/2 to 3/4 pack smoker for over 30 years.
Try the Chantix, Voodoo, and get your mom to try it too![]()
Still going strong, haven't had a puff in four months, but I still want one a couple times a day. The hardest has Ben drinking ang going to concerts, but it's not that bad. I can't wait till I get to the point where smelling smoke nauseates me, right now a smoker walks by on a sidewalk and I love it.
Congratulations man. I posted in this thread when you first started it, saying I'm weening myself, and I still am, but I still smoke, so that really means nothing. The bigger thing is that I posted that my mother had been smoking a pack a day for 40+ years, but as of recently, with a recent health scare, she's going on about six weeks without smoking now. Knowing how hard it's been on her, I've got respect for ya.
She's actually taking Chantix, Denny, and she said she really doesn't have any urges to smoke again (aside from some dreams she has where she sneaks smokes in her dreams haha), but she's supposed to get off of the Chantix soon, and she's worried there might be Chantix crash that would lead to her smoking again. Ever have that concern yourself when you were weening off the Chantix?
Anyway, congrats again to you GOD, hope you're posting here later on this year wondering why you ever smoked in the first place (because although weening, I'm pretty far off from quitting, and still looking forward to the day that happens).
