Our defense looks good.

A little too much Roy!

No way Kidd keeps shooting like that.

We've got this!

Golden opportunity to take Game 1 - so proud of our guys to gut out an ugly 1st half. It just was pre-ordained that we were going to lose this game though.

Bull.

Shit.

After that second quarter, I wasn't too sure. They played tough defense and ultimately got burned by poor offense and officiating.

Jason Kidd shot the lights out.

Game two is ours.

I don't want to harp or Roy cause Wallace was sub par, I would have like to have seen more of Wes since Roy did little to nothing - did not "earn" a lot of his minutes IMO.

Did Wesley even score? I sure don't recall him ever doing so.

He had one or two buckets. He didn't shoot much when he was out there.

I have a good feeling about not listening to any sports shows for the next 3 days.

Wes 1-3 had 2 pts in 19 minutes, Roy 1-7 and 2 pts in 26 minutes. Neither one played well and Wes got 2 quick early fouls. But Wes can defend way better that Roy and given that Roy was not scoring I would much rather have given Wes most or all of Roy's 4th qtr minutes - he has earned that this year an Roy has not.

Sucks that we lost but I feel good too. If we had won tonight, I think would've swept them. Everything we got, we can get again. But Kidd won't give them 27 a night for the rest of the series. I hope the guys don't have their heads down. This series is completely winnable.

Either way, 4 points combined from our shooting guards is not going to cut it. We need and should expect better.

I just don't trust nate to pull Roy. It also seems we struggle to consistently produce offense.

Dallas won Game 1 vs. the Spurs last year too. Then, they lost 4 out of the next 5 to lose the series.

That Spurs team also knows how to win series. This team barely knows how to win on the road.

We played well enough to win tonight. I thought the execution and defense was excellent. Roy and Wes combined for 4 pts. We let Kidd take some shots that he will not make the rest of the series. And I definitely don't expect them to shoot more than twice as many FTs again. Add all that up, and it just screams of an unsustainable plan of attack for Dallas. I think we can wear them down.

+1!

I don't think we can hold Dirk to 35% shooting again, but I think enough things broke their way that I like our chances too. I really think we are the better team.

I didn't expect a sweep. I wanted Portland to be competitive in the road games, so that they'd have a chance to take one in Dallas, and then win the games at home. This was a game Portland might have grabbed had Kidd not had a very atypical night. Hopefully Portland plays well again and gets game 2.

4th qrt free throws

Mavs 18
Blazers 1

There was no way in hell our defense played that bad. The refs gift wrapped this one for the Mavs.

Blazers in 6!

What I saw was the Blazers behind most of the game.

They took a lead with Roy on the floor, but maybe Nate left him in a little too long. I don't see that as a big problem though.

Chandler can't stop LMA, but LMA gave Dirk fits.

Wallace had an off game, I expect he'll do better in the remaining games.

Blazers showed they could take a game in Dallas, all they need is one.

It wasn't a blowout, so I'll just say "whatever". We had it the whole time if we wanted it, but we just couldn't pull it out. I don't expect it to continue. If we can keep these road games close and pull one out in game 2 or 5 all is well. If we get blown out like we have previously then that's when we can call up Mixum to tell us it's all over.

@missbatum: @nicolas88batum already home working for next game! (This is my computer dnt worry!) http://yfrog.com/gzrk9slj

I agree with the OP, and many other posters in this thread. We looked like the better team, and I think that we are. I was working during the game (at a sports bar and it was busy), but every time I looked up Dirk was at the FT line (in the 4th). Then after I watched the replay I still think we got hosed. 19-2 FT's in the 4th quarter? Are you fucking kidding me? And I love how Rick Kamla and the NBA TV guys tow the company line and act like it was because Dallas was so aggressive. So transparent.

Anyways, my conspiracy theory is that I think Stern knows we're the better team, and if we had won this game it could have been a sweep. This way it will go at least 5, probably 6 games, which means a few extra million for the league. So his goons did all that they could do, and in this case it was enough. We're not THAT much better. Go Blazers!

It's not that far fetched. It reminds me of the WWE which at least comes out and acknowledges the fake action. The NBA is a private corporation and they can do whatever they please in order to get more money and I would probably do the same as well. Though I do wish there was a mainstream alternative to the NBA sometimes, but then again mainstream means money and money means not having a star player getting swept by some mid-market team so yeah sigh...

The Blazers were 2-16 for 3 pointers. Up until Batum hit that 3 pointer in the closing seconds we only had one 3 pointer (Rudy). I attribute a lot of that to Matthews early foul trouble. He wasn't able to get into a rhythm. I still give them a good chance in game 2, but what a great opportunity to to take game 1.

Before the series started I felt who ever won game 1 would probably take the series. Hope I was wrong!

Sure, we sucked shooting threes but we absolutely dominated the paint. It was nice to see us taking the ball inside over and over instead of settling for jump shots.

Kidd will not continue to score like this. I actually like seeing him bombing away instead of Terry.

Kidd was not a player I had much concern about in this series. I had concerns about Terry getting hot. Hopefully Kidd is just a flash in the pan. I think he will try to coast the rest of the series.
