Don/Blazerbeliever lined it up so I could meet the punter, Sam Paulescu of the Dallas Cowboys Friday morning. I'm a diehard Cowboy fan since 71 and have never met a Cowboy so this was a special treat for me.

I gave him a pair of tickets to tonite's game against Utah. I thought it was neat to be able to treat a Dallas Cowboy to a Blazers game. But I did ask for the tickets back when I found out he grew up in LA and is a Lakers fan! :)

Here's a great hit by Sam during a Cowboy game last year.

Here's a pic of Sam, Jason, and Don.

Impressive hit for a punter!

Wow, I'm a huge Cowboys fan too and that's great you got to meet him.

I hadn't heard that he was playing in the NFL. He was the best punter Oregon State has had in quite a while, if not ever.

The Cowboys signed him a month into the season when our regular punter was injured and put on the IR.

They are worse. The Lakers never called themselves "America's team"

Agreed.

And, IMO, the Lakers had some likeable people in the '80s. The Cowboys haven't ever been likeable in my lifetime!

MGB, I saw them at the game tonight. We got together just before the start so they could meet my wife. She said the same this as you; he is small for a football player. I told her he is the punter honey. They were very appreciative of the tickets and wanted to make sure I gave you their thanks again. How awesome for a Laker fan to see a good all ass kickin of the Jazz.

Hail to the Redskins. The only franchise I hate more than the L*kers is the 'Boyz.

I hate the Cowboys also. The reason I hate them is because of Jerry Jones. I don't hold anything against Sam as he is just doing his job.

Growing up in Oregon and living with all the rednecks Oklahoma for the last 17 years it's hard to like anything called a cowboy.

Did you ask him how he feels about the Steelers being a superior football franchise? :devilwink:

They haven't won their 6th SB yet! That is why I want the Cards to win so bad! Right now Dallas is tied with the Steelers and 9ers with 5 SB wins while being to more than any other team. Dallas also has had the most dominant 4 years in SB history(in the middle of which they had to endure their coach being fired and the start of free agency/salary cap). While the Pats also won 3 SBs in 4 years, the one year Dallas didn't make it they lost in the NFC Championship, while the Pats didn't even make it to the playoffs the year they didn't win the SB in that stretch.

Dallas didn't name themselves America's team, that was originally done in a NFL films episode. Dallas has been the leading merchandise seller for a long time and something like the top 4 out of 5 most seen sporting events ever involves the Cowboys so they can lay some claim to the title.

I'm not surprised by the haters, any team as successful as the Dallas Cowboys is bound to have many envious people out there, but I would think any fan could appreciate someone being able to meet a player from your favorite NFL team.

niners 5-0 (dallas 5-3, steelers 5-1) in superbowls = win. and if it werent for the damn cowboys, the niners would have won another 3 or 4 easily. im rooting for the cards for the same reason lol.

Ya, quite a few seasons the SB was actually between the Cowboys and the 9ers.

he was fighting for the starting punter spot on the broncos and was cut right before the start of the season. He and Kern went back in forth in the final two Pre season games and it was quite a shot out. Being a Beavers fan I was bummed to see him cut... I really hate to see him in a cowboys jersey as well.

Ironically, this is the same justification Laker fans who aren't from LA use. "It's the winningest team, how can you not like them?" Well, it's pretty easy. I don't root for teams based on whether they're good or not. It's easy to like the glory team. Eff Dallas.

He may not be for long. He said he'd find out in about two weeks if the Cowboys are going to keep him. I told him to work on his kick offs, because neither Matt or Folk are good at kicking off. He said that's what the kicking coach told him to do too.

I never said you should like them because of how much they've won, I said that's why a lot of people hate them.

I apologize for being rude; please forgive me. I focus so much on my hatred for the 'Boyz, I didn't focus on the fact you were just posting about taking a player from your favorite team to the game. I would have loved to have taken a Redskin to see the Blazers. Other than Dan Snyder, of course. That little punk is destroying my team from the inside.

Although I haven't seen them in quite a while, I just simply love the Dallas Cowboy ,,, ,,, ,,, ,,, Cheerleaders!
I can't stand the Cowboy team organization. However, they have had, over the years, some great individuals and athletes on the team. I think my favorite has to be Bubba Smith. I wasn't a Roger Staubach fan, but he was a great quarterback. But I do remember a time (or at least hearing about a time - undoubtedly way, way before you, Minstrel) when there was a great SB rivalry between Terry Bradshaw of the Steelers and Staubach of the Cowboys.

Yup, the Staubach/Dorsett Cowboys were before my time.

Oh! MGB, kudos for showing a real touch of class to a Laker fan.
