Memphis is a joke right now. It seems like things are falling apart there.

Would you try to get Marc Gasol and what do you think it would take to get him?

Absolutely. Anything outside of LMA and dame really. Rolo, then, do they want younger pieces, win still pieces?

Lopez/Batum for Gasol

Get 'er done, Neil!

Nevermind that Gasol is a UFA after next season, and makes as much money as LMA yet is a year older. Get 'er done, and max 'em both!! Yee Haw!

Man...if we could get Gasol and Allen, I honestly think this team could win the championship next season.

Better hope so, because most likely one of Gasol/LMA would be gone the following summer. If Gasol wasn't in a contract year, I'd be much more in favor of this trade idea, which actually is something that would make the Blazers better next year, IMO.

And if he's serious about winning over money, get Marc to convince pau to come here

If you get Gasol, you start spending Paul's money because the window is open at least for a few years. Max Marc, max LA, and do whatever it takes to keep the core together.

Why do you assume that one will leave? I'm sure PA will open the pocket book if they look like a team that can win a championship.

Rolo is an ufa also. Do you assume one of him or LMA is leaving for sure also?

No, because Lopez isn't a player who will get anything near the max as a UFA. Unless you're saying that Lopez and Gasol are of the same value to other teams. If that's the case, then we disagree on that point, and I question your knowledge of the NBA.

I don't see Marc getting a max offer on his next deal personally.

I see it as much more likely he gets a 4 year deal worth a lot more money than Lopez will get. Wanna bet on it? In your scenario, their value is the same, so why even make the trade, anyhow?

I didn't say there value was the same anywhere. Please show me where I stated that.

LOL

You weren't comparing Lopez to Gasol when you said if I'm worried about not being able to re-sign Gasol and LMA, that I should also be concerned about not being able to re-sign Lopez? I assume you made that comment because you were comparing the likelihood of re-signing either Gasol or Lopez. Lopez won't get offers near what Gasol will get, so frankly, it wasn't a very good point. Nice try at the GOTCHA, but try harder next time.

You start drinking early today? Jesus.

We can pay whatever Paul wants to pay. Whether it is 4/50 for Marc or 4/40 for Robin. I don't think either would leave our team with those offers. I don't see a fear in trading for him as an ufa because he can leave as easily as rolo can

That was in response to you stating that one if LA or Gasol would most likely be gone next summer (if we traded for him). If we were successful with the two of them, you don't think PA would pay to keep them both?

Not drinking at all.

You posted this, right? I don't find it absurd to think that other teams will find Gasol more attractive, and therefore offer him more money, than they will Lopez. I don't see how the two players are connected at all.

I would think the Cavs deal has a better chance of happening than this.

Probably, but that has nothing to do with Lopez being a UFA, does it?

Why does Marc being a free agent increase the chance of LMA leaving us?

If the team isn't successful next year, where is the guarantee that Gasol wants to stay in Portland? People are pant-shitting about cap space, and suddenly if the Blazers get Gasol, all that goes out the window, I guess.

It does if you're saying that you'd be less likely to trade Lopez(/Batum) for Gasol because of the fact that Gasol's contract ends next summer. The likelihood of PA paying to keep either is pretty similar, so they are analogous situations.

Gasol will be 30 and has had injury problems in the past. Should that at all be considered before throwing a 5 year near-max deal at him?

So as I read it, many are wondering if LMA is worth a max or near max, but if Gasol becomes a Blazer, then both Gasol and LMA are worth overpaying on long contracts.

Just want to be sure I'm reading things correctly.

Sure should, now that you bring it up. Seems like it would also be considered before trading for him in the first place. Odd that you wait until now to mention it...

There's no guarantees in anything. If we aren't good how do we know LMA, Wesley and rolo all won't leave? We don't. I'd take my chances being able to keep Marc around. If he leaves, then hell you can re-sign rolo. I think we'd have a great shot at retaining himhowever.
