I never advocate trading a stud for a maybe stud. If any of the draft picks end up as good as LA then those teams will consider their draft a success.

This would most likely force us to trade Wes. I bet Chicago would deal 16 (Looking at guys like LaVine, Ennis, Payton or Napier) for Wes.

We would have around 13.4 million in cap space after the draft so we could sign Deng for a 3/33 with the 3rd year being a team option maybe?

I do not think it matters that the Bucks got the #2 instead of the Lakers. If Embiid made it to #2 and Olshey was convinced he was the next big thing, it might be considered.

You guys know I do not want to trade LMA. And Milwaukee would have to be completely insane to do it because LA would never re sign with them.
But sure I would do it.

A nice defensive player in Henson, a good young player at #2. and Cap space........ It is a fantasy land scenario as it would never happen, but it would set us up long term. I would not go Embiid though. I would go Wiggins, Parker, or Exum . I am no expert on either of these three so I would have to defer to Olshey to make the right choice, but I am through with wasting high picks on centers. Love to have Embiid, but just not over more skilled players.

The thing is, for the trade to work, it has to be a team that Aldridge would realistically re-sign with. The only reason why Cleveland is viable is on the off-chance that LeBron signs there. I don't think LA would leave if he was on a team with Irving and LBJ.

Other than that, I don't see him re-signing in Milwaukee, Sacramento, Orlando, or Philly.

It's funny we always think of player windows and how LA is going to decline sooner than guys like Nic and Dame, and cite that as one of the reasons to trade LA now for a pick.

But look at the Spurs.

Duncan is 38, Parker is 32, and Ginobili is 36.

LA is 29, Dame is 23, and Nic is 25. We have some time to put some talent around this team and make some serious runs. No need to break it up after just one year. I think LA will have at least 4-5 more years at this level and Dame/Nic can only improve with experience. This is the time to let it cook.

OK, I'll compare them. Batum is not as good as LeBron. Batum is smaller, not nearly as strong, more inconsistent, and is not a franchise player. Lebron will be in the HOF; Batum will not. LaMarcus and Duncan are much more similar, but Duncan is widely considered the best PF of all time. LaMarcus, while pretty good, is not. Also, Duncan is 38, LaMarcus is 29. LaMarcus clearly has more years left in the tank.
