I could see punishing LMA like that if he had a bad season.

No. We already have the best #2 pick of the millennium. And he's in his prime and improving.

But look at the Spurs.
Duncan is 38
Comparing LA to Duncan is joke. Might as well compare Batum to LeBron.
OK, I'll compare them. Batum is not as good as LeBron. Batum is smaller, not nearly as strong, more inconsistent, and is not a franchise player. Lebron will be in the HOF; Batum will not. LaMarcus and Duncan are much more similar, but Duncan is widely considered the best PF of all time. LaMarcus, while pretty good, is not. Also, Duncan is 38, LaMarcus is 29. LaMarcus clearly has more years left in the tank.Comparing LA to Duncan is joke. Might as well compare Batum to LeBron.
Apples to apples, age 28 per 36 minutes.
stat: Duncan / Lamarcus
Points: 21.9 / 23.1
Rebounds: 12 / 11
Ast: 2.9 / 2.6
Block: 2.8 / 1.0
FG%: .496 / .458
FT% : .670 / .822
PER: 27.0 / 21.8
ORTG: 112 / 108
DRTG: 98 / 104
Once you get into the efficiency statistics and factor the discrepancy in defense, Duncan starts to really show why he is considered one of the best big men to ever play the game (in his prime). LMA has really blossomed into a very, very good player, but he's still a cut below.
