Yeah, I think that's not a bad comparison for Batum. I like Oberto though. I don't know if a sloth is a good comparison. More like an Elephant or a Rhino. Big and lumbering.

Oh, you said animals....

Which one of you racists is going to be the first person to post a monkey?

You can't post a monkey, they are too strong. Best to take them outside and try to drive around them or shoot over them.

God I wish I could find a video of Cosell calling Alvin Garrett a "little monkey"...

God I wish I could find a video of Cosell calling Alvin Garrett a "little monkey"...

Alvin Garrett, the subject of one of Howard Cosell's most widely rebuked remarks on "Monday Night Football," never had any hard feelings over Cosell calling him "that little monkey."

"I liked Howard Cosell," Garrett said. "I didn't feel that it was a demeaning statement."

Cosell, who died Sunday, created a furor with his comment during the Sept. 5, 1983, telecast of the Dallas Cowboys-Washington Redskins game. After watching Garrett, a Redskins wide receiver, make a darting run after a catch, Cosell exclaimed, "That little monkey gets loose, doesn't he?"

Howard was from a time when ALL scrappy athletes were called "little monkeys" by owners, coaches, managers and reporters alike, regardless of race.

Roger Maris is called a "little monkey"more than a few tiimes in one of his biographies.

The racists were the modern fans and tv execs who assumed the worst, while displaying an ignorance of the history of the game.

Who cares? It's still a funny quote from a larger-than-life journalist, and this thread is about player/animal comparisons, is it not?
