by the trade dead line look for Beltran (210) to shut it down for the year. And for the Yankees to release Soriano (220) & pick up a big bat.

Don't we need a Hitter to go with that Big Bat...?

Rick, I was thinking the same thing. But, the Yankees will never just bow out of the race without a fight. Look for Cashman to swing a deal for a pitcher and maybe an upgrade at 2nd and 3rd and if Beltran is shut down a home run DH guy would be great. Adam Dunn would be awesome at Yankee Stadium.

The same Adam Dunn who could very well be the 1st legitimate 500 HR guy who doesn't make the HOF.

...Dunn doesn't need YS to assist him hitting HRs...he's a HR or bust hitter...the Yanx need someone who can also play the OF/IF competently...Rios, Utley would be good picks.

Amen-My exact sentiments, we don't need a high strike out slugger, who tries to park the ball every at bat.

We in fact do need someone who can hit for a high average, hit a few bombs, and get on base, more importantly capable of driving in Runs with RISP...!!!

Dunn, would strand way to many runners....

Rios would be a nice pick up, I've always liked his game.

Has anyone discussed or listed potential trade targets? I haven't seen anything yet

Of course Shields is on top of the list of acquisitions/trades...as is Samardzja (sp?), others too, yet, I'm gonna' wait and see, what other names begin to pop up, as they will after the A.S. break, like PopCorn....

I still don't get why the Yanx did not go after Kazmir when He was a FA end of 2013...?

I want Chris Sale on the Team too, but people in Hell want Ice Water too...!!

Usually you hear the rumor mill of who & where things may be happening but I've not heard much at all. As I said to Ron, I like Rios, I also like Samardzja. And yes not going after Kasmir was a mistake IMO & I mentioned that over sight. Anyone looking for Price I just don't see the Rays trading him within the division.

I get the same feeling, the Rays won't trade within their division or it will bit them on the ass worse than they already are....

BTW- I meant to say Price, but said Shields, (shields is going nowhere)....

...JS or Hammel from the Cubs makes the most sense as far as pitchers.

...not sure what kind of package it would take.

That's another thing, thinking about the pieces, O'Brian, Sanchez, or Murphy would definitely have to be part of the package. Any other pieces would have to come from the bull pen, someone perhaps like Kelley. Its going to be interesting to see what Cashman does. or doesn't do.

...I read somewhere that both Ichiro and Murphy could be trade bait.

You just know that whatever moves we make we're going to get killed financially. I mean if something like Ichiro & Murphy would get us say Rios we'll be giving up approx 7M maybe & picking up 12.5M with a 13.5M option for 2015.

BTW: I just noticed that although Rios is hitting over 300 for Texas he seems to have hit a power shortage with only 3 HRs.

...I don't see Texas or the Yanx trading their RF for another RF (Rios for Ichiro wouldn't really achieve anything, IMO)...I was thinking like maybe Ichiro and a youngster for either pitching or an IFer. I dunno, maybe Murphy and/or maybe one of the other youngsters for someone like Rios.
...one thing is for sure, Cashman needs to address the offense with acquisitions that can help right away...I have no faith anymore in either Roberts of Kelly Johnson. If they can upgrade those spots plus maybe another OFer to take Beltran's spot, I say do it.

...and oh, I like Zobrist too.

I read a good article on Hammels from the Cubs, and why he would be a better, and cheaper long term acquistion, plus we need a Lefty...!

wish I knew where the article was, so I could post it.

Again someone like Zobrist might be tough being in the same division. And yeah any offensive bat that could pay off now is going to cost big.

Hamels cheaper? Rob he's due about 110M dollars over the next 5 years. 22.5 per for the next 4 & a 20M option for 2019. And this is for a guy who's gone 10-18 over the last 2 seasons. So no this is not someone I'd like to see the Yankees go after. We have enough albatross's to deal with as it is.

...Jason Hammel "from the Cubs", you're thinking of Cole Hamels from the Phils.

...Jason is a FA after this year and will only cost about $3 Mil for the rest of the year.

Yeah I just realized that. He mentioned a LEFTY so I assumed he meant Cole. But yeah for the price Jason would be okay for now.
