EDIT: s/b "can't". I had copied and pasted the comments verbatim.

:ohno:

One of the comments at the bottom of THIS article:

Whittman has lost the team

In fact I don't think he's ever had the team. I think it's evident that the players don't believe in Whittman otherwise he wouldn't have the same post game quote after every loss, "Everybody is out for their own shots...We're not playing defense." He said after the Blazer game, "If we play with this kind of intensity and effort, then we're going to be all right." Whittman, the Wolves lost, that's not alright. If you can beat the Blazers you're not going to win 20 games this year.

What was that ironic quote last year from Pat Riley? Something like "The Spurs have it easy. They get to play the worst team in the league (Blazers) on their ring night." Mega-jinx for the Heat.

Pretty stupid comment really. Not that the Blazers are world beaters, but we aren't anywhere close to a bottom of the barrel team.

Even dumber considering the Blazers were 28-13 at home last season and haven't lost at home this season -including home wins over two teams that won 57 and 55 games last season. They are still dreadfully inconsistent on the road, but this "young" team has learned how to protect home court. That would be a good goal for Minnesota - and the first step to respectability.

Since that came from Randy Wittman, I'd consider that a compliment and a portent of good things to come.
