"Geoff Clark has been promoted to Director of Player Health and Performance. With over 24 years of experience with the Trail Blazers, including the last 12 as Head Athletic Trainer, Clark will lead the Trail Blazers team of medical and performance staff in providing preventative maintenance and rehabilitative health care to players. The recipient of the 2014 National Basketball Athletic Trainers Association Trainer of the Year award, his experience includes four minor league seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers and an eight-year physical therapy stint while being assigned to the CBA’s Yakima Sun Kings. "

This dude has been here for it all. Even if they change out staff, this guy has the stink of every single fiasco over the past two decades.

Marang had said something about clearing out the entire medical staff, but that can't be true if this guy is still around.

"Marang had said something" means whatever he said shouldn't be listened to.

I don't understand how anyone gets promoted with the amount of injuries this season.

if Cronin wasn't hiring players with known injury issues ..... oh wait, we need a ping pong ball.

That question has come up in prior years, and the explanation was the medical staff and training staff are considered separate entities.

Where is that being pulled from? Simply making it bold doesn't make it so. It's also worded in a way that could mean a variety of different things.

Why was there a thread started about Geoff Clark? Are people blaming HIM for the teams play of late?

Ah, I see. Same quote as from the first post, but a different link. That's why I didn't find it when I went back to click on the link but didn't re-read the post...

I still think the wording leaves things open to interpretation. Just because he leads the medical staff, doesn't mean he's actually on the medical staff. They reorganized and gave him the oversight position. That probably makes him responsible for anything going on in that group, though.

I feel like this question would be easily answered if you read the actual thread.

Yeah sorry I meant to include both links.

Is the head athletic trainer position the same as the lead medical performance staff? Seems they are different? It seems he is coming over from the training section to the medical staff and hasn't been on the medical staff until this transition?

Well his current title is Director of Player Health and Performance

Yes, but in the quote it implies that is new and he is coming from the training staff? He hasn't been in the medical staff. He has been with the training staff?

I would think the training staff would have a direct result on all these adductor injuries.

Very possible. Though if the medical staff is not providing accurate assessments, the training staff may feel what they are doing is fine. I see it a bit gray and murky there. Personally, I put both divisions on the hot seat.

It's a two year old press release, though.

my read on it is that scoot participated in ASW unlike the rest of his teammates and they really needed to get through that charlotte game, and potentially these two memphis games.
