I've said it before, but I would love to find a Greg Anthony. Someone who plays lockdown defense, can hit a three, and makes good decisions.

Hinrich?

He's definitely not an all-star, but watching him D-up on Ray Allen and Boston's other guards (and even Paul Pierce) just reinforces for me how versatile of a defender he can be out on the perimeter. His shot is so-so, but he's quicker and stronger than Blake and can get into the lane with greater ease plus does a decent job of running the offense.

Chicago seems like an ideal trade partner; trade Blake straight up for Hinrich and they get a solid backup for Rose who makes backup point guard money and they shed a 9 million a year contract which makes it easier for them to retain Gordon.

I guess we get to wait and see

I'd be quite happy with Kirk Hinrich.

My list of point guards to target goes:

1. Ramon Sessions
2. Andre Miller
3. Kirk Hinrich

Of course, if KP can get Rubio, then everything is out the door. But I'm assuming that won't be possible.

My point is that Steve Blake is better than anyone the Lakers have at the PG position. And he held Brooks down for most of the game tonight. Brooks' last 8 points were scored when the game was already lost for them.

I don't agree with you, I would take Derek Fisher over Blake any day of the week, even if he is starting to get over the hill. His leadership abilities are much stronger than Blakes.

This isn't a mystery. But the guy plays well and was a big reason we are at this point...some of you, though, would love to just go dump him in the river and anoint Playless as your god until free agency arrives.

Give the guy a break until/if we make the second round...then you can start judging him so harshly. Most of you would be lucky to make it from the armchair to the fridge without collapsing let alone guarding Brooks all night long off double picks.

I have been as hard on Steve Blake as anybody, as I was one of the folks who predicted Bayless would start part way through the year. Blake is very competitive, and as I learned from some of the Quick articles of behind the locker room door, I had no idea he was that competitive before this year. I had no idea how hard he took loosing. But I have to say, that Blake gets about all he can out of the talent level his body provides, and has persevered when I thought he would not.

The facts are part of the game is matchups. It has also been known this year, that the type of guards that give Portland problems, are small fast guys who like to shoot a lot. In particular, Jason Terry types. Brooks is a score first PG of that mold. This just happens to be the matchup we have, and we must live with it. Just like we have to deal with Yao vs our bigs. Just like Houston has to deal with Roy vs Artest and Battier. Everybody has their problems. The question is, will the team as a whole, nut up. Baby steps. We lost game 1. We won game 2, but only part of the team was really clicking (stars). In game 3, will more members of the team find a comfort level and bring their game? If we get a few more baby steps, just maybe the Blazers will start walking.

I don't hate Steve Blake, but the playoffs are revealing his limitations in a way that the regular season just doesn't. When the play gets this physical and guys are allowed to play a little rougher on defense, Blake just doesn't have the physicality (or quickness) to beat it the way a typical starting quality point would. I absolutely think he's the best option this year and that Bayless and Sergio should be kept as far away from the floor as possible for the remainder of the playoffs, but being the best option out of 3 less than ideal options doesn't make Steve Blake the long term answer.

If Blake is kept over the off-season and a trade is made for an upgrade, I'd be thrilled to see Steve come off the bench as the backup, he'd be ideal in that role and would provide a steady hand who can hit the open shot and take care of the ball.

i don't hate blake at all but he is not playing well and needs to pick it up for the rest of this series or we're in big trouble. he did an ok job in the first half against brooks but they were trying to get the ball to yao or artest was trying to go 1on1 for much of it. in the second half you saw brooks penetrating when ever he wanted and that caused our big guys to eat up more of their 6 fouls. he can't stay in front of quick guards, not a surprise and seeing as he should be a b/u PG on a good team not a big worry.

i am all for hinrich at this point. i was hesistant at the trade deadline of him but after watching more bulls games i think he'd be a good addition. sessions i don't know that much about but he seems to put up good #'s. My question about miller is, would he be any better at stoping quick PGs?
