I just noticed I received an e-mail earlier today from this college I applied to, for a part-time summer job dealing with computers (I'm a Computer Science major).

I'm going to have an interview, and I have a choice to make:

Either go in early one day, at 9 AM or 1030 AM, or go in the afternoon on another day, at 2 PM or 3 PM.

I'm thinking go in early at 9 AM, but I haven't gotten up that early in about a year...I usually get up at 11 AM now, 10 at the earliest. I'm wondering if you go in earlier, does that mean they'll see you as ambitious, and not lazy? Or does it not even matter?

Basically: should I go in the morning, or in the afternoon?

I don't think it matters as long as you nail the interview at either time.

I would go earlier myself. I always set up interviews or appointments as early as possible and get them done with for the day and then lay back and relax. lol

I actually was faced with a similar decision, and just came back from my 9 am interview this morning

I thought it was better to be the first candidate they see for the position, and try to wow them right there on the spot.

Thats my thought process too.

As far as it making a difference in the interview...I don't really know if that would really make a difference. If you went in the afternoon...as far as they know you had something to do in the morning.

Yeah I think it depends on who's doing the interview, they might view it as being lazy or maybe not. Depends on the type of person.

But to not fall for that, better go earlier so you won't regret it. (if you really want the job)

I don't think the interview time will matter nor will they "read" into what time you select. The were throwing out options that work for them and then wanted to find one that would work for your schedule. Don't read into what time you select. Personally I would go with what time is most comfortable for you. I would choose 10am.

Oh, I see. Thanks, guys. I went with 10:30, because the place is pretty far away and I've only been there once...I might get lost
haha.

Wow, that was probably the gayest interview ever. Possibly a waste of my time, unless I actually turn out to get hired and get paid!

Time to interview for more IT jobs.
yay

They told me they'd pick someone in 2 weeks. So I'll let ya'll know when I find out!

For now, I've got a landscaping job at this place my aunt works at. It's easy, hours are flexible, and I can go wherever I want...good job for gas money

Speaking of summer, how's the weather there?

We normally get months of 105+ degree days here, but this year's been in the mid-90s. And loving it.

it was about 120 today....ugh!!!

"but it's a dry heat"

LOL

We typically get a week or more of 120+ days around july/august.

Three of my older cousins dropped out of college to do landscaping. Don't know what that means for my future. The youngest of the three, though, lives in Virginia and is making ridiculous money, I think. He does a bunch of work for some rich-ass people and now owns the business.

it should be around 140 about that time. And I used to say the same thing about dry heat but when you couple in the high winds (feels like your constantly walking into a blow-dryer) and the constant sand storms....heat is heat! You know what I'm saying, being in Vegas....lol

I've been stationed in Alabama and in Georgia and sure it's easier to sweat cuz of the humidity, but it feels hotter here

FINALLY I got a job with an internship. Worse timing, though, I'm going on vacation all next week.

I'm working with these guys that develop stuff for small devices - cell phones, etc, and vending machines.

I'll be using Java ME (I have knowledge of Java SE). Anyone have experience with that?
