I want the Lakers in the first round! Not because I think we match up best with them; just because I think we have a legitimate shot at beating them. I want our team to beat them badly. It's been years of misery for me; watching them succeed while our team is in turmoil. I think this will be the year the Lakers finally crumble. They have too much going against them in terms of mental distractions. Kobe has it out for the refs, Phil is ready to pack things up, Artest is in kill his team mode, Bynum looks unhealthy, Gasol is a few steps slower and fish doesn't look as good on the defensive end as years past.

This would be the best time to dethrown the champs! Go Sactown, Go Dallas, Go Blazers!!!!

“He could be out a couple games,” Jackson said. “There could be a bone bruise involved when you hyperextend the knee. His reassurance was saying, ‘I’m going to be OK.’ I think that he might have an idea about it because he’s been through this before.”

Fuck you! We don't want LA!

I do and call me crazy.

1.) NO doesn't stand a chance against the Lakers; even with Bynum hurt.

2.) We will see the Lakers in the 2nd round, while they probably sweep the Hornets and we have a long and grueling 7 games against thunder or mavs.

3.) The best chance to steal a game against L.A. is round 1 and the first game. The only hope to really win a series against the Lakers is to beat them on the first game of the post season.

4.) We really have a shot at beating them. Think about it. The Blazers are confident. They aren't going to fear any team in the league.

I can understand you looking down the road a bit, but screw that. I want to get out of the first round and Dallas is our best chance! We'll deal with your Lakers when we have to FAMS!

I take offense on that statement. The Lakers are far from being "Mine". My hatred doesn't even make me think straight about them. I mean look what I'm posting now. Kinda tells you I can't think straight when talking about this team.

^ Ya right bro, you know you have a Kobe jersey in your closet.

I don't think people are getting why I want them in the first round. YES! The Blazers have a much better chance in beating the Mavs or Thunder in the first round. NO! The Blazers, even with a first round win, have a better chance in beating a Laker team in the second round.

I am striving for a Blazer title. I have no doubt that the Lakers will roll over NOH in the first round; maybe even a sweep. If we face Thunder or Mavs; I bet it goes 6 or 7. More importantly, it will be a very emotional and draining series. Lakers rest up, gain confidence, then are fully prepared to beat us in the second round.

Better to get them first and possibly come out on top. Then the confidence will sky rocket. L.A. has been our nemesis. They are champions. We beat them, who knows how far our confidence goes. Maybe even to the finals.

I don't really believe the Blazers have a legitimate chance to win a title this year, so I'd prefer maximizing their chances of winning a round. That's why I'd rather they not play LA in round 1.

Why does it matter? You believe that it doesn't matter when a point is scored. It's just as valuable in the clutch last minute as in the first half.

True. What does that have to do with what I said?

Are you seriously hoping to play the Lakers' in the 1st round? Seriously? You do know its going to be 8 on 5, right !?!?!?

I know, right? If the Blazers play the Lakers in round 1, the Blazers should get to hire 3 guys to sabotage the Lakers' team plane so it crashes, mid-flight. See? 3 guys to even up that 8 on 5 disparity.

I'm good at problem-solving.

Totally agree, but you know the Blazers' would hire some injury prone people and they would blow a knee out before they could fuck with the plane!!

I'd love you guys in the 1st round, I think it would be a great test for both teams and you guys could push us to a 7th game...but you'd probably choke, again ;]

Even the Laker fans know it's true.

Serious question, do the Championships mean any less to you, knowing that the NBA has rigged that shit in your favor?

That only afflicts people the Blazers pay millions of dollars to. That's not the going cost of some saboteur thugs.

Probably. I'd rather the Lakers face a team in round 1 that doesn't get their passion up, like Portland does, because then they may well slack off and lose. Then Portland doesn't have to play them in the playoffs and choke.

You're not a "true" L*ker hater until you at least spell it correctly. Jus sayin. ;)

I actually agree with the OP if the Blazers are thinking of winning it all....Seem like some in here just want to get to the 2nd round.

While the Lakers are going to be the favorites against anyone in the 1st round the first round would be the time to take them out if it's gonna happen before the finals.

Bynum hurting (MRI results in the next few hours), Blake out so we are really thin at guard and lots of losses recently. If you guys think you can beat the Mavs and Spurs then why not wait to prove that in a later round and get the defending champs out while they are a little banged up....Sure you are risking a first round exit but when its all said and done who cares if you get to the 1st or 3rd round of the playoffs. If you know your team as well as you think you do then you should be content knowing they would have performed well in the later rounds had they gotten by the Lakers.

Roll the dice pussies :P

It doesn't matter who is sick or injured, I thought we already established that you guys could roll out there with a local YMCA team and you'd still win because you'd end up shooting 100 free throws.

If you really believe that then why do you even watch...maybe, just maybe, we have really good players on our team....I stopped watching wrestling when I was 10

Maybe I don't watch? Maybe I just follow box scores like Kingspeed and Maris

Well, for my part, I don't think it's literally rigged. I think the league encourages different standards for officiating, which biases games. That doesn't fix the results, it just gives some teams better chances than others. There's no question that the Lakers have really good players. Market plays into that. I think if the same "franchise" (same owner and personnel) existed in Vancouver or Oklahoma City, they wouldn't be contenders for most of NBA history. So there are some baked-in advantages that exists for various teams in all sports.

Mostly I watch because I enjoy watching good basketball players play. I'm not hugely invested in the results, though I'd like Portland to win.

If Portland had another professional team from the NFL, MLB, or even NHL, I would probably follow the Blazers less.

lol...you guys

LOL. DaRizzle wants to believe that the Lakers have accomplished everything with no inherent advantages at all and (secretly) that he shares in their success.

Don't worry, DaRizzle. I'm sure you'll accomplish things in your life you can be proud of! :) Meanwhile, the Lakers sure have won a lot, no question.

my penis is larger because of the Lakers awesomeness...I dont know how that is even debatable

That inherent advantage is called "superstar calls"....it happens around the leauge with "superstars"...I dont like it either but it is what it is.
Portland has no "superstar" hence your problem

I think that's most of it, and market is why the Lakers almost always seem to have one.

I do think referees get sucked up into narrative, for example that an elite Lakers team can't lose in the first round. In 2003, when Kevin Garnett, a superstar, got fouled out in an overtime playoff game against LA for Robert Horry running into him...that couldn't be explained by "superstar calls" since Garnett was the superstar. That game featured some other pretty egregious calls too, going in the Lakers favor. While I know bad calls happen to every team, I think officials (consciously or not) suffer bias towards teams who aren't "supposed to lose" due to their talent level.

It's funny you mention that series, as it often comes to my mind when thinking about the corruption of the NBA. It is a series that is seldom mentioned, but one that featured so many absurd calls when the upstart T-Pups starting threatening to actually win that series, that is still stands to me as "proof" that the NBA is corrupt and favors the Lakers, among other teams.

There was a particularly hilarious call that went against Wally Z who was separated by feet of air between the Laker, when the nervous and corrupt official (omg! this game is getting out of hand - ie, Lakers losing) called him for a foul. Maybe he was breathing too hard.
