I actually agree with the OP if the Blazers are thinking of winning it all....Seem like some in here just want to get to the 2nd round.

While the Lakers are going to be the favorites against anyone in the 1st round the first round would be the time to take them out if it's gonna happen before the finals.

Bynum hurting (MRI results in the next few hours), Blake out so we are really thin at guard and lots of losses recently. If you guys think you can beat the Mavs and Spurs then why not wait to prove that in a later round and get the defending champs out while they are a little banged up....Sure you are risking a first round exit but when its all said and done who cares if you get to the 1st or 3rd round of the playoffs. If you know your team as well as you think you do then you should be content knowing they would have performed well in the later rounds had they gotten by the Lakers.

1.) Taking the Lakers to game 7 and losing the series

or

2.) Beating Dallas in game 6-7, then get swept by the Lakers in the following round?

Personally, I want a championship and will only be happy if we get it. The only way to do it is face the Lakers. Yeah odds are Lakers will win out; but if Blazers win, talk about confidence booster!

I'm super excited for whoever we play. They all have great unique challenges.

LA would be sweet because they've caused so much pain to our franchise nothing feels better then beating the Lakers. They are tired and beat up from playing more games than any franchise the previous 3 season, they will be looking forward to future series and overlooking us as an opponent. With Gerald we cause matchup problems for them as evident by the fast break points in our last home game.

Dallas is a team that is easy for us to defend, they are small and Dirk doesn't step up his game in the playoffs. We can punish them in the post and get back on D.

OKC is the young darling of the league that all the experts love, we can shut them up and show that even while getting zero from Oden, our team can overcome a great scorer like Durant. We can show that Durant is the new McGrady, an impressive scorer that can't win a playoff series.

Also after the Kobe insult of a referee isn't it just possible that the Lakers would not be getting all the calls? Not to mention Stern would be thinking that a good way to get all the gay fans aboard is to eliminate the Lakers.
