Is Joel really THAT much of a drop off from Oden?

Joel can rebound. He has the Blazers All Time record for rebounds in a game. Joel can block shots. His career high is 9. And while he's not someone that we go to in the post, he can make wide open dunks just as well as Oden can. As far as needing someone with a post game who can command a double team, we have LMA whose game is more polished than Oden.

I'm sorry but I don't think this loss is as collossal as some of you think.

Joel is a very good player.

And who is coming off the bench to help Joel?

Fuck yes! I like Joel and he makes a great addition as a backup with Oden but haven't you been watching the games SHIT!

These are the threads/comments that make me go crazy

Oden was in the top 15 PER in the league, and you're comparing him to Pryz

Backup bigs are going to be a problem for us. And teams had to game plan for Greg on offense. They won't have to as much with Joel. Defensively, I think Joel is up to the challenge.

He and LMA will play tag team and have to stay out of foul trouble. Hopefully, Outlaw gets back sooner than later.

Also- if Pendergraph doesn't play well, we will bring someone else in. Stay tuned...

:check:

Joel is good, but compared to GO he's average.

So Aldridge is going to guard 5s?

The scout on ESPN.com says it's easier to play us when Oden gets the ball. Says it's good when Roy and LMA aren't touching the ball as much.

Yes. In the 7 games he played during our 13 game win streak, we played LMA at the 5 for the 4th quarter and we were VERY effective. Jack-Roy-Jones-Outlaw-LMA was a very good lineup. Unfortunately Outlaw is out and that hurts but I think we will trade Miller for someone who can fill that role. Dare I dream for Jamison?

Is this a joke?

He is an idiot!

He's an expert who is paid by an NBA ball club to study a team's strengths and weaknesses. All you do is post intelligent analysis like "haven't you been watching the games SHIT!"

Joel will play well, but it won't be the same.

Stop making so many threads.

Aldridge can NOT guard 5s. He usually plays 5 on spot situations only, so the sample size is really small. But since you really don't care about that, here's Aldridge's PER against when guarding 5s:

25.4

He's allowing superstar production to 5s he guards.

So please, stop acting like Greg's injury isn't a severe blow to our team.

Hey- KP himself said that the injury makes us a stronger team.

I don't think you know shit about basketball and even less about who is and NBA basketball experts.

No he didn't, he said it makes us worse. Go listen to the interview after the game again.

Good job not answering my point though, but it's not like you actually contribute any good input anyways.

Checkmate.

um YES. whats important with Oden is his development for the future. I guess now he needs to start from scratch in terms of getting used to the nba game.

sucks... i know.

This is one of the dumbest threads ever created. But considering who it was made by, not all that surprising. Just read the sig.

KingSpeed is right. You guys got nothing to worry about, you got Joel to take care of business until Oden returns.

that is all true, but in the short term, Joel can still deliver what Oden's strengths were: rebounding and defense.

You still haven't answered how we are going to fill the backup position.

Yes, I have. LMA is the back up. When Joel goes out, LMA moves to C and Howard, Cunningham or Player X we're getting for Miller moves to PF.
