Is Slam Dunk Zone the new Bleacher Report?

A week and a half ago, I asked: Is Rant Sports the new Bleacher Report?

Well, I think I may have found one even worse. Check out the End of the Year Power Rankings from the Slam Dunk Zone.

First, the year ends on 12/31, not 12/29 - that was the first sign that the author is a clueless dip shit. His Power Rankings confirmed it. These may be the worst power rankings ever:

"1. HOUSTON ROCKETS

With a record of 21-8 the Houston Rockets were already holding their own in a very strong Western conference. Now with the recent addition of Josh Smith, expect the Houston Rockets to go on a nice little run in the near future."

Seriously, dumb ass??? The Rockets have lost 4 of their last 6 games (there's your "nice little run") and at 21-8, have fewer wins than the next 5 teams on his list.

Even if we ignore GSW, MEM, TOR and all the other teams that have won more games than the Rockets, AND have been playing better lately, just look at the No. 4 Blazers:

No. 1 HOU, 21-9, have lost 4 of their last 6, 5-5 in their last 10 games with a +0.80 MOV

No. 4 POR, 26-7, have won 4 in a row, 9-1 in their last 10, with a +10.30 MOV

WTF, seriously WTF??? HOU isn't even in 1st place in their division. They are currently barely holing on to the 4th seed in the West. How can anyone with half a brain possibly rank them ahead of the top 3 seeds in the West?

Although you could debate the relative strengths of the two conferences, I also have a hard time ranking HOU above the top 3 seeds in the East, who have all won more games and have all gone 8-2 over their last 10 games.

Hollinger's Bot currently has the Rockets ranked at 9th, trailing the six teams I mentioned, plus LAC and OKC. I think that may be low, but based on their recent play, compared to the six teams I mentioned, I don't see how anyone could possibly rank HOU higher than 7th based on their overall record and recent poor performance (5-5 in their last 10 games, 2-4 in their last 6).

They can't even use the injury excuse any more. Over the last 10 games, they have been healthier than the Blazers.

I'll give the power ranking writer credit for going out on a limb and (presumably) ranking based on expected future performance rather than past results. It's unfortunate that he's so far wrong, but if the Rockets do somehow figure out how to get value/production out of Smith, this guy will look like a genius.

The Rockets screwed themselves giving him a starting spot. The best they can hope for is that he plays defense because when the playoffs roll around his offensive black hole will be exposed thoroughly.

Go ahead, shoot me down. Tell us all why the 21-9 rockets, who have gone 5-5 in their last 10 games deserve to be ranked above the 25-7 Blazers who have won 9 of their last 10. There must be some reason why you ranked the Rockets first, ahead of the Blazers (and the Warriors, Grizzlies, Raptors, etc.). So, what is it???
