Is the internet a powerful avenue for conservative social change? In other words, the news and TV media provide virtually no outlet for conservative news. Granted, FOX is a moderate news service, but many conservatives I speak with tell me that the local newspapers and TV news services simply do not address their point of views and they have turned to the internet. They opine that they are a very large but silent group and the fact that newspapers and TV outlets are losing readers/viewers is part & parcel of this.

I'm not so sure I buy this, but it seems plausible.

To a lefty, FOX is conservative. To a moderate (me), it's moderate. But nobody can effectively argue that 99% of print & TV media isn't deeply liberal. All I was pointing out is that people at work that are conservative tell me they have completely abandoned the Oregonian, local TV news and other cable news as it doesn't reflect their views. They now use the internet (I don't know what sites). That made me wonder if there isn't a grass roots conservative movement that is very silent but very large or growing.

As to FOX, I've watched it a fair amount and they seem to be as hard on lefties as righties. I think the left is spoiled by the rest of the media being so far left that moderate news is an attack or something.

To a lefty, FOX is conservative. To a moderate (me), it's moderate. But nobody can effectively argue that 99% of print & TV media isn't deeply liberal. Never mind that "conservative social change" is an oxymoron, your basic premise is severely flawed by the fact that America is a drastically right-wing country compared to most of the world.

FOX "news" is far-far-right propaganda. CNN is moderate-right. PBS is moderate.

I am unaware of ANY major left-wing media in America, let alone a successful political party with major left views. The Democratic party is now moderate-right compared to where it was several decades ago and compared to the world.

But to address your concerns, I doubt viewpoint has anything to do with the gradual obsolecence of the print media. Paper is slow and inconvenient, and cannot be updated/corrected at the drop of a hat.

TV news seems to be doing fine viewer-wise, but if it ebbs it will due to the loss of trust that comes from it's attempts to draw viewers with showbiz glitz and glam rather than actual unbiased reporting of the facts.

You may very well be right. I no longer read The Oregonian as they are such hard core leftist agenda takes away their objectivity. Also, Canzano & Quick are clueless about sports!

I've always equated Olbermann with Bill O'reilly. Glenn Beck on the other hand is in a category all his own...

Also just by looking at Fox's show lineup, there is no way you can make case that they represent moderates. Personally I don't even bother with cable news anymore. OPB and NPR actually have discussions with guests about issues facing this country.

I agree with everything you said, but I have to disagree on CNN. I would call them moderate--I find myself agreeing and disagreeing with their stories equally each day (I work in Control Center and everyone opted to keep CNN on so that's what I watch for nine hours).
