To Blazers: Deng & Noah

To Bulls: (re-signed)Pryz, Webster, Bayless, and Pendergraph

I'm pretty terrible at assessing value. Just curious if it's anywhere in the ball park...or if both teams would even be interested in anything close to this idea?

I don't see why Chicago would bother with it.

I hear ya. That's why I was gonna throw in Rudy instead of Bayless. Would that make it more palatable for them?

That would give us a Lineup of

PG- Blake, Miller
SG-Roy, Rudy
SF- Deng, Travis
PF- LMA, (Noah and Outlaw would split minutes here)
C- Oden and Noah getting the rest of his minutes here.

pretty killer 9 man rotation.. although I doubt Chicago does it.

they give up two starters for 3 backups and a never was.

Yeah, I know. However, the term "starter" and "backup" could be relative - depending on the teams involved.

I wouldn't bother with this trade even though I like both Deng and Noah. The two players I look at right now are Caron Butler and Mike Conley. Both have been criticized as of late by their respective teams. I think both would be readily available if they continue to put up lackluster performances. I'd love to get Conley. Butler would be a huge upgrade but I would have to think he'd be taking away shots from Oden, and that's the last thing I want right now.

Kinda a lateral move for Chicago. They need another star to compliment Rose. As much as some of their fanatics think Rose is a wasted pick, he will be something special. He needs a big that can score down low. I don't think any of those players you mentioned will do that for him.

Interesting thoughts. I'd be willing to bet, though, this wasn't even a consideration even as close as a week ago.

Unfortunately, I think you're right... at least for Nate McMillan. I don't think the same can be applied to Pritchard, who will be the guy making roster moves anyways. I think I'd rather find a guy who doesn't need the shots to be effective. We should be getting our big guys the most shots, followed by Roy.

Blake/Outlaw for Conley and a bought out Jaric?

It'd be kinda like paying 10 million for Conley though, probably not worth it. I'd love to figure out some sort of Conley/Gasol package, probably no chance though.

Oden/Gasol/Aldridge could all go 35 minutes a night and we'd be straight killin.

with luxury tax deng could potentially end up costing us 100 million over the next 5 years. not likely to happen even if it could.

I just don't see Chicago blowing it up like that. They have a solid core. The only player I could see them moving is Hinrich. He's an expensive backup.

conley is not an upgrade over blake.

the only thing Blake does better than Conley is play safely and shoot a little better.

Conley (in a somewhat reduced role next to Roy) could still push the tempo, defend, and feed the post much better than Blake ever could.

conley is NOT a great passer or defender (bayless has a lot higher upside as a perimeter defender), and as you say he's a downgrade in shooting. he may be able to push the tempo much better than blake, but if we trade blake obviously miller would be starting and getting most of the minutes with roy (which should be the case anyway). conley would add almost nothing to what we already have.

The only way the bulls would take it is if Pryz, Webster, Bayless, and Pendergraph's contracts were expiring. I think they might try to sign someone big in the off season and dengs contract is huge so they might try to dump him. idk about noah though...

Yep. I think Chicago probably tries to move some combo of Hinrich and Thomas in an effort to acquire a true low post scorer. They might move Deng for the right deal, but it would seem to me that the player coming back to them would need to somewhere North of the backups in your deal ABM ... and I don't think Pryz is an upgrade over Noah for them.

Hinrich for expiring is perfect for them. Come off-season, they go hard after Boozer - and they are sitting pretty.

Hinrich/? for Travis/Miller would work for them, Hinrich for Travis/Blake/? would work for them. And, we will be able to offer the MLE for whichever one they decide not to resign next year.

I doubt KP does it, however.

I don't know ... Hinrich's production seems to have fallen off of a cliff, and I wasn't all that impressed with his defense the other night. On the other hand he's played most of his minutes at shooting guard instead of point guard where he belongs, so maybe that is part of the problem?

But why would we offer either Blake or Trav the MLE next year? If you are trading them I would assume that closes the book on either player.

Hard to argue with that. He sure does not look good out there, so far. Of course, Deng looked like shit last year. So - maybe they have more data that helps them make these decisions.

I think this team values Travis a lot more than people are willing to accept, and the same is true about Blake. Right or wrong, this is the vibe I am getting. Roy is comfortable with Blake and he considers Travis his best friend. Nate trusts Travis as an off the bench go-to scorer and trusts Blake not to make too many mistakes playing next to Roy. And, I get the feeling that KP likes these guys as well, especially Blake.

Deng at least had the excuse of injuries, Hinrich? ... uh ... does an injured psyche count?

They may value Travis, but after getting traded I wonder how much he would value them, especially when there are probably teams around the league in need of a scorer with his shooting range? Same goes for Blake, especially if the organization traded him TWICE! "I know this is the second big breakup and I know we said we wanted you back and you're a big part of our core, but it's not you Steve, it's us, can we still be friends?"

Frankly I think with the emergence of Rudy as a sixth man, Dante showing a little sumthin' sumthin' at backup power forward and Bayless apparently making strides (I guess?) Does this team really have the inclination to throw 4-5 million at either of these guys with Paul Allen sick (and maybe not so willing to become a big time luxury tax payer), a big extension looming for Greg, Rudy likely due a payday eventually, and so forth? -- I don't know, I'm just asking.

I thought he came back from injury last year too. Not sure about any more.

No clue.
