It's official, the Lions are the worst team in NFL history

With their 31-21 loss to Green Bay, the Lions joined the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the only teams in NFL history to lose every game on their schedule. The season was 14 games long in 1976, so the Lions 0-16 record is officially the worst in NFL history.

The 1976 Bucs were an expansion team, so at least they had an excuse!

The Lions season of futility caps many years of poor personnel moves by upper management. Matt Millen was unable to turn three straight quality 1st round draft positions into players who contributed to the team. Millen was fired, finally, in September.

The Lions were outscored 517-268 over the course of the season.

Where do the Lions go from here? There's only up! How would you go about rebuilding the team?

To start on a bright spot Calvin and Kevin Smith are decent building blocks on Offense. Ernie Sims is a beast on D. We need a GM that knows what he is doing, and the coach needs to be on the same page as the GM. I think this was a problem.

We need to build both lines. Our QB's are running around for there lives and on the other side, the other QB has all day to throw. The Saints where 11 for 11 on third downs. That is unexceptable.

The NFC North is, well its no NFC West but its close. If Miami can go 1-15 and win there division the following year I have some hope. We just need to find the right people, from the GM, to players to third string water boy.

Sam Bradford is the choice if he comes out of college. After that, you'd have to look at the lines just like the above poster said. Good linemen can be had later in the draft. A core of Sam Bradford, Calvin Johnson, and Kevin Smith at the skill positions on offense is a great place to start

I dont know, Id rather have the number one stud OT and get CJ Boucher or the kid from Mizzou way later in the draft.

the lions have a lot of young talent on their roster they just are missing a few key pieces. I think they should go heavily after Pats Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. They do need to pick up a veteran QB this offseason so that if they pickup a rookie QB he wont be thrown into the fire with a horrible team.

Defensively they really need to improve the DE, they dont have much of a pass rush with Shaun Rodgers gone and if you combine a bad secondary with a d-line that cant put pressure on the QB the lions could have another 0-16 year even if the offense improves.

I feel bad for Calvin Johnson. Williams made his way out of there (but still just to miss the playoffs), and Johnson was left to fend for himself. I hope either they improve DRASTICALLY over the next few years, or Johnson is able to make it out of there.
