Defending champion Ivan Ljubicic used his strong serve to beat sixth-seeded Albert Montanes of Spain 6-3, 7-6 (4) Saturday and reach the final of the Open Sud de France.
The fourth-seeded Croat sealed the win with his 18th ace of the match and never faced a break point. He won every point on his serve in the tiebreaker.
"I was able to play aggressive the way I wanted and everything went pretty good," said Ljubicic, the winner last year when the tournament was held in Lyon.
He admitted being tired before the match.
"That's why I kept the points very short, I went for winners," he said.
