Bakersfield defeated Los Angeles 95-84 Saturday night at the Toyota Sports Center. Five players scored in double figures, with double-doubles by Brian Butch (14 points, 18 rebounds) and Adam Koch (13 points, 10 rebounds).
Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half as the Jam only shot 37% while the D-Fenders shot 29%. Despite the poor shooting, Bakersfield came up on top in the first half and led 48-34 at the break. The Jam extended their lead to as many as 25 points in the second half and defeated the D-Fenders to stay unbeaten against its southbound rivals this season (3-0). The Jam improve to 13-7 on the season while the D-Fenders fall to 6-10.
James Nunnally led the Jam with a season-high 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists. McNeal had 15 points and six assists while Phoenix Suns assignee Diante Garrett came off the bench and scored 11 points.
The D-Fenders were led by Ronald Dupree who scored a game-high 24 points off the bench. Elijah Millsap (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Courtney Fortson (17 points, 11 rebounds) recorded a double-double each for Los Angeles.
Bakersfield will travel back home and host the Fort Wayne Mad Ants Friday, January 18 at 7 p.m. PT.
