The Bakersfield Jam (22-25) defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors (26-21) 115-109 at the Kaiser Permanente Arena Sunday night. All five Jam starters finished in double-figures, led by Ike Diogu who recorded a double-double of 32 points and 11 rebounds.
Both teams set a solid rhythm early in the game but Bakersfield ended the first quarter leading 31-25. Bakersfield's advantage vanished as they went into intermission trailing by just one point (60-59). A sharpened performance in the third quarter (34-24) was Bakersfield's key to coming back from a short halftime deficit. After entering the fourth quarter with a 93-84 lead, the Jam struggled to make some shots and allowed the Warriors back in the game but managed to hold on to the lead to ultimately run away with a commanding victory.

Bakersfield outscored Santa Cruz 56-49 in the second half, dominated points in the paint (66-48), and held the biggest lead (11-5) of four lead changes in the contest. The Jam shot 53.4 percent from the field and held Santa Cruz to 47.5 percent.

Jerel McNeal finished with a double-double of 20 points and 13 assists. Terrel Harris notched 14 points, Derrick Byars scored 13 points, and Dennis Horner added 12 points. Markeith Cummings contributed 11 points off the bench.
