Dude I can't even imagine.

I mean, losing a pet fucking sucks, but losing a pet you bonded over so quickly and then a month later it dies... I can't imagine how much that hurts. What you thought was gonna be years of great memories now turns into memories you wish you just could have with them.

RIP to that good boy. Much love to Quick.

Condolences to him and his family, most people that get pets treat them like family and it’s never an easy thing to go through losing a family member. I lost my boxer a little over a year ago and I am still not great. I can’t fathom losing a new puppy, poor little girl.

I have a very similar experience, and I too, am not happy that his dog passed.

I was bucked off a horse when I was younger with my older sister and she landed on me. First time the wind was knocked out of me and I thought I was going to die. I have never ridden a horse since. The thing is, HORSES ARE FUCKING AWESOME. It's my sister who hurt me by landing on me, the fat biatch.

I was terrified of dogs for a long time when I was little. Only dog I was cool with was Pal, my grandparents’ dog. Apparently, my parents’ friends picked up a stray dog and it attacked me at an age where I don’t remember, so I can’t speak to the event. But it certainly impacted how I was around dogs for a long time. Dogs are great companions, though. There are no bad dogs, only bad dog owners.

As much as Quick grates on me, there’s a bit of his writings/stories I appreciate. But it’s irrelevant here, anyhow. Reading the story of his pup breaks my heart. These kinds of situations are more painful than many people realize.

I had an English bulldog and his name was Rumpelstilskin. He was four years old and I moved into a new apartment and it was really warm in the place... so the second morning I ordered an air conditioner to help ensure Mr. Rumps wouldn't overheat.

That evening, he started panting. Like... a lot. I gave him some water but he kept panting. So I carried him downstairs to go outside, where it was a bit cooler. He kept panting although it seemed to be getting better... I then carried him upstairs, thinking I'd put him in a cool bathtub to cool him off. By the time I got up the stairs, he had stopped breathing and was dead.

It was heartbreaking. I look back now and MAYBE I could have given him CPR? I just don't know. It was about seven years ago and it still hurts.

Losing a pet is horrible, and I don't wish it on anyone (as inevitable as it is unless you own a parrot or a tortoise or something) but English bulldogs are so fragile and it hurts me to see Quick lose his pooch.

Oh Ed, that’s awful. Sorry for your loss.

I have had many a dog. I haven't any bad experiences (being bit) but, I have had several dogs pass away mostly of old age. One dog though was shot when I was in 5th or 6th grade. His name was bear. He dug a hole under the fence and was sniffing in the neighbors garbage. The neighbor shot him with a rifle. Bear made it back to our driveway and collapsed. We came out and saw him. He died in my arms, taking his last breaths. The neighbor took off in his truck, but the cops got him.

Like I said I was never bitten or attacked by a dog, but I thought I was going to be once. A year or so after the above incident. I was walking to the bus stop to go to school and there was this pack of dogs walking around and barking and growling at each other. The biggest was a doberman. I hadn't seen them before. I tried to take a side street to miss them. But, they happened to go the same way and ended up behind me. They began to follow me. I started walking faster. They moved faster, the Doberman in the lead. I started to run, but I knew I wasn't going to make it to the bus stop, and the bus probably wouldn't be there in enough time to get on before the dogs got to me. So, I turned around and balled up my fist ready to punch this doberman. It jumped up into me...and started licking my face. They were nice dogs. Thank goodness.

I love dogs. I believe they are good unless treated badly and or are trained to be bad.

RIP to Quicks dog. That's a sad story. That dog fought as much as it could.

Sorry for his loss. Sounds like the dog was loved in it's short life. My cat had been with me for 15 years when I lost her. It sucks when you lose loved ones on any level.

Sorry to hear that, Riv. One of my cats died earlier this week.

"She had accidentally been over dosed."

It would be so hard not to lose your shit over that.

Hard enough with a pet. I had a situation when my mother was misdiagnosed in the hospital and put on medication for Parkinson's. That, in turn, messed up her blood pressure and had her being medicated for that and she kept returning to the hospital because she fainted if she tried to stand up too fast. It took weeks of convincing until the doctors accepted my theory that she didn't have Parkinson's and took her off that medicine. Four days later, no problems with her blood pressure.

A couple of years later she went back with fatigue and they tried to tell me she had Addison's disease. I told them I didn't think that was likely and they grudgingly brought in an endocrinologist to look at her at my request. The doctor came to me one day and said "Hey, you know what, you were right. Her body wasn't producing enough adrenaline because of a small tumor touching her pituitary gland." Unfortunately, the doctor told me that after surgery because Mum fell out of bed and broke her hip while at the rehab facility because they never cultured her initial UTI to discover it was antibiotic resistant ... her symptoms would leave for a couple of days and then return.

She never recovered after two surgeries on her hip. What a nightmare.

I love doggo’s. I’ve had several. Currently have a 10 year old black lab that’s snoring next to me.

I’m also in a line of work where if your dog gets aggressive I won’t hesitate to boot it in the head.

That sucks for Quick. Sounds like a spendy ordeal. I mean bulldogs are expensive to begin with and then hospital overnights and stuff. Probably racked up 10’s of thousands trying to keep it alive.

Call me cold, but I don’t believe in veterinarians. As close as I grow to a dog, I just can differentiate that they don’t have the same life expectancy. And I won’t go in any kind of debt for an animal. We’ll try holistic, old wives tales, whatever….

Dog dies we get a new one.
