I say Round 1, of course, because we'll see these two go head to head in the Gold Medal Round of the Olympics.

Great Britain have recently returned from a training camp in the States, which saw them lose all five matches they played against Nigeria, Lithuania and Russia.
However, they have since recorded back-to-back wins over Portugal.
"We are the underdogs and nobody thinks we can win," added Freeland. "But I would never count us out of anything.

Technically it's Luol Deng vs. LeBron James. Joel Freeland vs. Anthony Davis?

Freeland vs LeBron?

They are both mamalian life forms. They both demonstrate bi-lateral symetry. That's about the limit of what they have in common.

I hope he is talking all kinds of shit. You go Joel

Go Joel!

I also hope he's talking shit. Yes, he's a rook in the NBA. But he's no rookie otherwise. Besides, I approve of anyone talking shit to D-Will.

John Schuhmann: With Great Britain exposing his poor defense, I can see why Love only played 5 minutes against Brazil. about 8 minutes ago

For the Minne fans (not that they're here anymore - since they left with their tails between their legs).

Watched the first few minutes on my lunch break. Joel scored the first basket on a fast break. He still runs well.

Love posts up Freeland. Joel completely stuffs him.

I gotta say, Freeland looks bigger than I expected. Dude is a solid 6'10/250 or so. I got no problem with him at center from a pure size standpoint.

"this is not a great debut for joel freeland of the portland trail blazers...." not exactly a glowing endorsement right now for "free".

Does he really look that bad?

I've been watching off and on. They don't seem to run much offense for him. Honestly, England is so bad that the whole focus seems to be to get the ball across half court and hope Deng can create something.

Freeland has (mostly) been guarding Durant and LeBron in this game, this wont happen in Portland.

Kevin Love's defense is atrocious.

And the sky is blue.

Yeah, Freeland is guarding guys out of position - can't judge based off that. I do agree that physically he's solid for the center spot.

This play was the highlight of the game to me. Love had him isolated out on an island with his back to the basket in perfect low post position. He does a nifty little shake that Freeland doesn't bite on, turns for the Duncanesque spin and Freeland just drinks his milkshake. Drinks it all up.

I know Love is no renowned low post player, but he is a 26 ppg NBA player, and for one play Freeland was the best PF out there on the court. If he can consistently defend the post like that, it could be huge for our team.

Nice.

Was there more than 1 block by Freeland on Love? Because the one I just saw (I'm behind a bit) wasn't anything close to what you described. Love was out of control, and basically looked like a 14 year old who has no coordination.

huh. Maybe I'm remembering it better than it was. Rose colored glasses.

In my defense, I'm watching a pirated ghetto feed, so there's a little room for interpretation in the pixels.

Deron Williams gave some props to Freeland in his post game interview.
