Outstanding work Rick-

and I thought Donnie Baseball's 2.5 Mill in 90, and 3.4 Mill in 91 was alot....(with a $400,000 signing bonus not factored into his figures, still short of the others, in that time).

A-Roid did take the cow to the barn. Or screw the pooch, is more like it.

Yeah up until 2000 the salaries seemed to just be going up gradually & then the image of the old Batman show comes into view.....BANG!, BASH!, KAPOW!, SMACK! Holy monkey nuts Batman. I mean what the hell was Texas thinking?

Oh Wow, Nostalgia....I can never forget my cousins, even Uncles, coming over to watch the first episode of Batman when it came on.

Today my Son laughs at our generations TV, compared to todays Computer Graphic Imagery, where one can't tell if its a real picture or a graphic.

Nothing can replace those "Kapow, Bam, Bash, Smack" or "holy flying cheetohs-Batman" (the last is my own, Kim's a cheetoh girl).

A-Rod, Inc. made on helluva deal, and Texas made the classic business errors of negotiating with themselves and getting emotional about the deal...they were so in love with the idea of having A-Rod on their team. A-Rod got them so focused on the heart, they forget their head's when it came time to dig into their pockets. Sales 101 gentlemen.....head, heart, pocket. Texas got sold a $25/yr image.

Absolutely right, they did bid against themselves. Just as the Yankees did when they re-upped both A-Rod & CC. You can bet your ass with the highest salary at the time being just over 15M that the Rangers could have gotten away with 18-20M on A-Rod.

25 Million, and all that muscle mass is going to turn to fat flab. I bet A-Roid has a helluva gut he's hiding. I don't think he can get in shape enough to ever play the game, again. NO amount of workouts, and powder protein shakes will ever help this fool again.

If he does, God forbid if he ever dons Pinstripes. I could see him trying to play 1st Base, to no avail. A laughing stock joke of the Century. Take a seat next to Balco Barry, in the Hall of Shame...!!!

And the shame is you just mentioned 2 players that didn't have to cheat. And you can add Clemens to that.

Yes, lets add Roger too, as well as Rafael, Sammy, and Mark-"I am not here to talk about the past" or "I didn't cheat" McGwire.

I can only imagine what the Maris Family is thinking these days? Can't be good.

I wouldn't put Raffy & Sosa in that catagory. Sosa would have been a 25-30 HR guy. And Raffy, he became a reg (over 500 ABs a year) in 1988 From 88 to 92 he averaged 15 HRs a year. From 93 to 03 he aver 40 a year. And McGuire was basically a one dimensional player. HR or nothing.

And to think after a 1959 season when he only hit 31 HRs, drove in 75 & hit 285 Mickey Mantle took a $10,000 pay cut. Shame we can't do that to today's prima-donna's.

That minimum salary is stunning, very stunning.

Working in Aerospace from 1975-2000, I was lucky to meet the minimum salary of MLB rookie players. Began at the bottom, got educated, and learned me something.....advanced over decades from the bottom rung, with 3 Aerospace Companies, to the top of the ladder, in or as/a Quality Engineering and Operations Director, in the end, the year 2000. Then I fell off that damn ladder, broke my fucking back, literally....!!!! ,

I had no choice but to retire with a broken fucking back, rebuilt with metal discs and rods...... basically the Gloria Estefan Surgery. It is hell, when its cold, the metal is like a fucking antennae. So life is good, get it while you can, because there will come a time, when you can't just do anything you may want to do. (to do what is normal, what most people get out and enjoy, call it an end to the innocence).

I'm crying wolf, I think I have a bad back.....mine is minor compared to Rick2583, now there is a man who has been to hell and back. Me I've been to hell alright, and at times, think I am never coming back.......if you got your health, then you got everything in the world.......

Its kind of funny when someone tells me that they have a herniated disc or a bulging disc, I always want to say...."Do you wanna trade backs?" But you know what Rob, back pain in any form is a real bitch. Especially if you had a history of being active. So when it comes to the back, I've gotta feel for anyone that's has trouble with it.

That is a hell of a jump from 200 to 2002... 50% increase... wow almost the same with '80 and '85 although that's a 5 year difference, not 2...

Good Point Rick....ok Raffy and Sosa, are out.......

Same here Brother, I to feel for any back injury person...extremely so...

Rick do you sometimes feel like a metal cyborg, half human half metal, with a waist, that feels like a cars ball joint, swivel, pivot, and I need a grease fitting like a car, at times, to ease the rust in the back, hips, and shoulders.....oh shit, such is life, I'm getting on with it. I'll quit complaining, life is too short to complain....

You're right & besides, complaining solves nothing.

it's only money.

'American Greed' (in a European, accent)

My kids use to say that when we played Monopoly....I wonder if Scherzer would take Monopoly Money.....

I also wonder how much the Doy-yers would offer him if they would offer him any Free Agent Money.....would the Bums respond. Honestly THEY don't need him....but I'd love to see Jose Fernandez, SOON, in Pinstripes or Dodger Blue or White....(fuck I didn't say that about the Bum's, I think I have a psychotic twin in my head)...(oh fuck...".Doctor My Eyes, tell me what is wrong, was I unwise to leave them open for so long")
