So I've been begging my parents to get me an IPod for a while now. So far this semester, I've been getting excellent grades, straight A's, which is something I've never done before in my whole life. My parents were really impressed and came home last night with an IPod Nano for me. For some reason they got me the new IPod Nano, which is shaped likea square. I believe it is about 4 gigs:

So I've got my IPod, so now all I need to know is how to use it. lol. It didn't really come with an instruction manual, so I'm pretty much clueless. I have a couple of questions, so hopefully you guys can help out.

1. Where are the sites you guys go to to download music, and can you explain to me how it works?

2. Approximately how many songs can a 4 gig IPod hold

3. Does the square IPod look kind of awkward? Because when I first saw it, I was like wtf. But I guess I can get used to it.

4. How do you charge the batteries?

5. Where do you go to download videos?

6. How do you upload CDs and stuff onto an IPod?

7. How durable are IPods? They look fragile as hell, but my friends tell me they're practically unbreakable

Those are all my questions for now, but I'll probably have more later. Thanks in advance

1. You can download music using iTunes.
2. Around 800-900
3. Yes.
4. Plug it into your computer using the USB cord.
5. Anywhere online
6. Use iTunes
7. Pretty durable.

Doesn't ITunes cost money though? Aren't there sites where you can go to download for free? Like Limewire? The only problem is I have no idea how to use Limewire. If it's against the rules to talk about it on here, you can just pm me

Ok, well since Limewire doesn't have a basketball forum, I'm sure it is ok to talk about. Go to limewire.com, it will have a download button some where. Download it, open it, and search for music.

Yes you have to pay using iTunes.
Downloading songs using limewire is illegal. Feel free to use it though.

You really don't need instructions to use limewire.. lol just search for the song and download.

You could put your CD's in iTunes but you have to download iTunes first you could download free music in limewire.

Why are IPods crap? lol.

Thanks for the answers guys, but one more thing. How do you download TV shows and stuff, and is it free if you get it off of Limwire?

All of these people claim iPods to be crap, yet I've never had a problem with any of mine, nor has anybody I know. A lot of the people who claim iPods to be crap just go along with tech nerds (not calling u either, NTC).

I have a 2 GB nano and love it.

I download my music off of Soulseek and Bit Torrent sites. It's very simple to use once you get the hang of it.

Beside Limewire in my old computer I used Ares its pretty cool too.

if you search really good using limewire or a torrent site+Aries, you can find "tv shows and stuff" for free.

but as far as i know, these videos must be in the Ipot format, or .mp4 format.

if you need to, you can get a video converter, to convert videos from just about any format into the Ipod format, or .mp4 format. you can get one of these easily off of a site like download.com (although most of them are limited, but you can find a "key" somewhere online or something).

My sister had like 3 iPods, she had to keep sending them back because the battery would stop working after a while, also one of them just started falling apart. One of her friends had 5 different ipods after sending them back with battery problems. Just alot of people I know with iPods have troubles with them, battery problems or them just falling apart after a while. The surface is prone to scratching aswell.

I do agree with the scartching. I don't know, I've heard a lot of battery issues on all of Apple's products, so I guess I'm just used to a bad battery?

The only problem I have with it is the scratching. I suggest getting a case for all you guys concerned with that.

Don't wrap the earphones around the Ipod it f***s them up.

You got a suggestion on where we should wrap it up then?

I just got replacement headphones for free from Apple and what I do to prevent the headphones from ruining is unplugging them from the iPod and then wrapping them around...I dunno if it'll solve any problems but at least the cord wont be stretching when your not using the iPod.

Lol, kid gets straight A's, but he can't figure out an iPod.

go download bittorrent (search for it on google of go to bittorrent.com

use thepiratebay or www.isohunt.com for all of your movies/cds/nba lives/tv shows

oh yah, if you choose to pirate music, don't update your iPod or iTunes. You will have to keep sending your iPod back to Apple for repairs if you do.

Remember who we're taking to here, Brian. Every one of lifes simple tasks are a daily struggle for our dear friend.

I had a creative joint, and I dropped it one time and it broke lol, plus the software for creative is not as nice as iTunes.

Brian, do not use p2p programs like limewire...the site I use is rapgodfathers.com, go to the boards, sign up, and you can download entire albums. Download winrar so you can extract the file when your down, and your set, its really easy, and better than limewire if your trying to get entire albums rather than individual tracks.

To get the best battery life, charge it until its full, and let the battery die before you charge it again.

^ TSV's got it right. It made listening to rap music so much easier. albumbase.com is another site you can use if you're looking for non-rap music.

I'm not a big fan of iPods either. Both my brother and sister have one and I just find the process of adding music needlessly complicated. My Creative mp3 player is just a simple drag-and-drop process and its never had the battery/screen problems that iPod users deal with.

Another issue with iPods is the hard drives in the larger players. That Nano is a flash player so you'll be fine. But I have had several hard drives die on me. And I hate the little marking it makes to indicate the deal HDD.

Take a look at the broken iPods out there.

Yeh Limewire is a cheaper option but Generally Itunes is the safer option. But then again something like 1 in 500,000 files are infected and chances are thats like Pop and Rock Mainstream kinda stuff.

Also get some nice headphones, like some that'll arent really expensive but more midrange 30-50 dollars, the headphones they give you are HORRIBLE. You won't get the best experience if you use those.

Nah get expensive ones if you got the money. More money = Better quality. Depends what type of music your into as to what type of Headphones. Rap and Dance music you would generally get Bassier Headphones like i do

What is all your guys problems with your iPods? Mine has been through so much abuse (I listen to it before i go to sleep, end I end up lying on it, having it fall on the ground, etc. when sleeping.
