Just released OFFICIAL list of Nets players that have been left UNPROTECTED

In the official list of every unprotected player in the league in the upcoming Charlotte Bobcats expansion draft which can be viewed by clicking HERE, the Nets players which have been left unprotected are Kerry Kittles, Alonzo Mourning, Rodney Rogers, and Tamar Slay*.

Players with an asterisk (*) after their name means they are a restricted free agent and if the Bobcats choose them in the draft they automatically becoming an unrestricted free agent and their contract does not count against the Bobcats salary cap.

yea,those players are the same that was reported. reports have said that Tamar Slay seems to be the #1 choice for the bobcats.

so let me get this straight about restricted FA being chosen by the bobcats. if they take slay, then he becomes unrestricted and they dont go against the bobcats books, so we are paying his contract? someone wana break that down for me, im either reading it wrong or completely lost :bonk:

The Bobcats are in need of someone who'll make a difference at once that can be their franchise player. But from the looks of it, no one among the expansion draft fits that description to a T. So they'll be taking young guys who has potential to be good down the line. They'll take Slay. Sadly, there's no way that they're going to choose Rogers.

Yeah they have pretty much said they want Tamar Slay already. I think it will be good for him, ever since we drafted him 2 years ago, he has been wasting his career away on the bench. I really did figure a couple of seasns ago that either him or Brandon Armstrong would work their way into our regular perimeter rotation. But B.Scott never really felt they fit. And I dont see them getting more run during the Franks era either, so now Tamar will leave in the draft most likely. And Armstrong will leave due to free Agency.

We never really got a chance to see what they could bring to the table on the NBA level. I think The Bobcats will be great for Slay because he will get to play. All I hope is that Brandon also lands somewhere he can get soe PT as well. He was a great scorer at pepperdine. And I would hate to see him fade out the league.

i wish the best for slay. he acted very mature and knew his role along with brandon. you didn't hear them complaining about pt or anything while they were here, i guess it also helps that we were winning and if they complained it wouldnt look good for him. i honestly though that brandon would be a backup sg. when we drafted them, i didnt think lu would still be here and i though brandon would take over. if frank was the coach from day one when he drafted them, i believe they would have absolutly gotten more playing time than what byron gave them.

it depend who the bobcats pickup, but i think slay will still be a bench player. he hasnt had starting minutes and has not had a chance to prove himself as a starter. best of luck to both guys.

as for debo. now that i think of it, it might be better if we keep him b/c we would get something for him via trade. the problem is that he isn't the 6th man of the year rogers anymore. but he is a big body and still has some skill left so i think we can ship him off to a west team b/c all west teams are looking for big bodies, as he was mentioned in the sea/por ideas.

I heard with the #23 pick of '02 draft, the Nets were torn over two players...They wanted a shooting gaurd so and they wanted either Brandon or Gilbert Arenas..In the end they went with Brandon cause Gilbert was small. Wow, what a wrong choice.

They didn't select Brandon in the '02 draft. Brandon and Gilbert came in '01. The Nets selected Nenad and Tamar in the '02 draft. Actually the Nets selected 7th in the '01 draft and picked Eddie Griffin. Brandon was selected by Houston with the #23 pick and his rights (together with our soon to be All-Star RJ who was selected #13 and Jason Collins who was selected #18) for Eddie. Don't you worry too much about passing up on Arenas. All but one team made the same mistake. Besides, the league has seen worse mistakes.

Naw I was talking about Tamar Slay when I said we drafted him 2 years ago. And ever since he has wasted those 2 years never playing.


I think Nets told Houston who to draft because before the draft it was already rumors that the Nets would trade down.

There wasnt that many people that was high on Gilbert Arenas because he didnt really have a position. Nobody knew if he was going to be a pg or a 2-guard. The Nets already had a young pg in Steph(J.kidd didnt come till later in the offseason), so there was now need to draft someone that might end being a pg. And Brandon Armstrong had already proved what type of scorer he could be at pepperdine. So I think thats why the Nets told Houston to draft Armstrong.

BTW, Iam still not sold on Arenas bieng a pg. His shot selection is poor, & he shoots to much imo to be the proper playmaker on a team thats capable of winning

Yup I know. I was referring to nextlevelgame's post.

Arenas could be a great player in this league. His TD's showed it. All he needs now is a PG mentality and he'll be ayt.

Ahh crap, I meant '01. But I still mull over for them not taking Arenas. He could've been a poorman's AI for the us while Kidd can cover the two gaurds.

thats nothing compared to us becoming affraid of kobe's agent and not drafting kobe in 96. we got scared and Nash said we wanted kobe and were going to take him but all the threats and everything then happened. i still think he was bluffing. that ticks me off more than use not taking arenas. eventhough arenas would be nice to have
