Kaleb Canales leaves Trail Blazers for Mavericks

Kaleb Canales is leaving the Trail Blazers to take an assistant coaching position with the Dallas Mavericks
 
He is basically lead assistant here. So how could it be an upgrade for him? Someone must have told him he is on thin ice or he didn't like the fit here. He is from down there I guess so that could be it....

By the way, I say good. Loved the guy but if he was in charge of D then no problems having him move on.

a blessing in disguise! I wish him well but this makes is EZ for Stotts/Olshey to have a chance to hire a GOOD D coach

Not true. Triano is. Caleb is very close with his family and they are all down there. That might have factored in a bit.

My guess is that Stotts wanted to bring someone else in and it may have been awkward for Terry and Kaleb, so he helped get him a job with his old boss.

No doubt they need a whole new philosophy on D. And it needs to start with the guards/wings.

I'm thinking Kaleb wanted to be closer to his family and Stotts called his old buddy's down south and helped get Kaleb the job.

Stotts acts as though its a favor for kaleb, but what he really did is help himself. Obviously kaleb isn't the right coach for the job. We just opened a slot for a real defensive coach.

This is good for kaleb too cause he will learn from a damn good coach; ironically the coach stotts learned under.

Win win!

Caleb Kanales is really good friends with a player on our team that happens to be from Dallas and will be a Free agent in two years. I think there is evil lurking
